Mountain Bikes

Hey o. I think I'm coming out of denial that I can't ride BMX bikes anymore. Injuries and a career really hold me back. My back is destroyed (crushed vertebrae from a bad double truckdriver & a handrail [2 sep. incidents]) and I'm looking to get into a ride that is more forgiving and easier to ride on long trips. I think I'm leaning towards a free ride bike or a dirt jumping 26" bike. I'm looking to spend around 1,300.00 but if I really fall in love, I can go as much as 1,700.00. I know nothing about MTB brands. Does anyone have an recommendations? I want a short travel front suspension and a hard tail. Thanks, Off Topic.

I've always had good luck with Trek. My Trek has been with me for almost 10 years and still works great with no real big problems besides usual upkeep and maintenence. Cannondale is one of the bigger mountain bike brands and I haven't heard too much negative about them. They are on a tad on the pricey side though. Have you checked out any bike shops in the area? Cycle Sports and Bike Line are both in Doylestown and have decent selection of mountain bikes..

Go see Bob at Guys Bikes in Southampton. They sell Cannondale, Schwinn, (I think)Trek.. Bob knows his stuff with bikes. Tell him his pool guy sent ya

My next bikes (road & mountain) will be Cannondale. In the past I road Raleigh, but I shredded 5 frames(3 road, 2 mountain, all 5 aluminum) and they stopped giving me new ones under warranty claiming that I'm too abusive.

Bob's been my main man for years, but I wanted to hand pick everything like I did for my BMX bikes. I'd never turn a bike in for warranty, tho. I'm abusive.

I have a MacNeil Freimuth frame and a lovely component setup. I've really gotten beat up over the years so I want a more forgiving ride (compressed vert. X2's, snapped femur, etc)
