What to do...please read

My sister was clipped by a person who rolled a stop sign and took off. She chased him and beeped but they tried to lose her. Luckily she got their license plate. Her and my dad filed a police report, but the cop was ultra arrogant at the station. He asked if we had insurance and said these things happen all the time and we should have our company pay for it. My dad said the other guys insurance should definitely pay. Anyway, my dad kept his composure and asked the cop if the other party would get a ticket. The cop then said "What do you want, blood?" What a dick, asking for blood is asking for the guys address so we can confront him in person. Geez, what's with this cop? Didn't seem to want to do his job and was mad my dad had an answer for everything he said to get us to leave. It's a hit and run for god sake...

Luckily I wasn't there or else there woulda been more words exchanged, surprisingly my dad was pretty calm about it. The cop said he'd talk to the guilty person and call us back, but never asked for our number. Isn't this kind of ridiculous? What should we do? Wait? [This is in PA]
