Honda Employment

Hey guys, i just scored a job at the Keenan Honda a little past doylestown on Easton road. They told me they where strongly interested in me and hired me for part time detailing, and possible minor shop work pending review after so many months and my dedication to my work, of course. I told them i am a car enthusiast, but i do not have much experience in hondas. I explained what work i have done with cars in a brief talk with the detailing head supervisor.

before going in for an interview, i wanted to get a small head start on what to expect. If anyone can let me in on what working for honda is like, id greatly appreciate it. Some of the things i plan on asking him (coming off of the top of my head atm) are how often are the pay periods; weekly? bi-weekly? What kind of in-house benefits do employees get, such as deals on cars, parts or financing? How are the higher employees regarding smaller employees and their relations, such as corporate talking to a new detailer such as I? How often do raises get handed out?

like i said, i may think of more. He said he will contact me tomorrow, or monday early afternoon. Any other information on hondas employment and employee relations will be appreciated.

every dealership is different, but they're all the same in the fact that they all suck. you'll find out soon enough.

you don't really need to know anything about cars to detail them... naturally even if you aren't a car enthusiast you end up knowing about or taking interest in cars after detailing. i have been doing it for about a year and i like it, its good if you like cars which i'm sure you do. its not really anything more than a job though,. all the questions you asked are based on the dealership itself, not honda. also find out if you are working for the dealership or the detailing is separate. my shop is at a dealership but is subcontracted.

i figured each dealership is different, i was just hoping somebody on here works at honda. I believe their detailing is a part of their company. I tried nissan, they mentioned they where contracted and a seperate company. No mean to be "racist" here, but none of them really spoke english -- which would bug me, i think.

I think ill find detailing to be pretty good. I dont know too much about it, but i do care about keeping my car clean. I just never really went out of my way to try the expensive product or anything before, just used cheap crap. Im interested in how it really goes.

yea, i stated i was going to ask these at that time in OP. Im sure an employer, if really interested, wont give a "true" answer, but something that i more likely want to hear.

I worked at a Honda dealer in DE for a few months as a lot attendant... so idk exactly HOW much my opinion matters.... but here it is.

Weekly Pay at my dealer, we got checks every Friday around noon
Pay scale is so-so. I was parking cars and doing SOME QC on the cars, and was making around $9.50 an hr.
Hours are decent, our detailing shop was out around 6, people usually stayed late to clean their own cars
Body shop people were really good

Other then that, all of my complaints were based more on the people i worked with/for. Also, you are gonna piss test, but you mentioned that isn't an issue. Also, any mistake involving a customer car, is another trip to get it done again.

They pay weekly. Your job is pretty easy, you'll just be washing/waxing/vacuuming the cars that are sold and the new cars that come into the lot. The guys down there are pretty cool and they'll be teaching you everything you need to know.

My dad has been working there for 12 years now.
