My girlfriend used to drive the same car. They are surprisingly quick and I always wanted to buy it from her. I dig the plaid interior. Auto or 5spd? Heres a couple things you should consider, GLI BBS wheels and better coils, raceland is a garbage ebay brand, dont buy them.

Its not as much looking cool as being safe and getting the best you can for the money you have. I understand you only work during the summer but that doesnt mean you should waste your money on a trash product. You should just save for longer. Youll appreciate this advice in the future. Being as young as you are and in highschool you are going to be prone to ruining your car with cheap mods and things you regret in the future. Theres a lot of knowledge in this and other forums, take what you can get to heart because it will help you further down the road. Also, stay away from plastidip, your car is a nice color.

[QUOTE=Shipman;2232098 Also, stay away from plastidip, your car is a nice color.[/QUOTE] the wheels were originally plastidiped gunmetal grey but i just peeled it off. again the cost to get the scratches out of my paint will cost way to much

This is a fact! I never recommend Raceland/Rokker to anyone.

It doesn't matter if you have a car that is worth $500, you don't want to cheap out on suspension components. Highway driving, daily duty and New Jersey roads demand a higher degree of quality.

For not to much more money you can get something better, or buy a used set of a better quality coilover.

My experience is in Honda's so for VW I don't know. I can give you some brands to look into, whether or not they make something for your car you will have to look. Check reviews online, and with other VW members. Figure out how low you want to go, how stiff you want the ride and if you want to be able to adjust dampening and/or height. Do you want to be able to rebuild the shocks if they blow? Or if you want to change spring rates later can they be re valved?

Ohliins (find a set used, they are pricey)
KW (find a set used, they are pricey)
Tein
Ground Control sleeves paired with Koni's or Bilsteins

BC's, Megans, Tein are some quick brands that come to mind.

Oh, I like you. The koni/GC combo is one of the best budget setups around, bilsteins are an upgrade to the konis and have shocks made to be on lowered cars. Racelands are utterly awful.

Koni/GC is a very popular option for the Honda crowd, mostly due to its cost. For the price Koni's are great!

Tokico also makes a nice shock. I had Tokico/Eibach before I got my KW's.

Some interesting Raceland Fail pics.
