Be careful with the pacesetter headers. You get what you pay for and those things are junk. Make sure you get extra header gaskets as they blow out constantly.

Why do you have purple "Grand Sport" stripes with a red Camaro insert?
^What he said basically. I know a y87 car is a rare find but your going to take a 200? or 220hp v6 and put an m90 on it, and make about what 240-250hp in stock trim and say tally up your bolt ons and more boost blah and your encroaching on stock lt1 performance maybe ls1. Your worried about economy or daily drivability i get 22mpg when i drive the trans am nice. Your putting on a charger thats difficult to do and with the more air it will be forcing, more fuel of course. You would be encroaching on v8 gas mileage, but marginally better. I know all about trying to modify your daily when you have school/work the next day and your screwed with the car apart. +1 on wagon wheels best deal out there but i went with the ws6 wheels so i could rotate them. Also are camaro sail panels already black? Just looks like you primered it really. sounds like im talking to my friends who drive alll motor fully built 3.8 auto stang and a 4.0 procharged stang. Then again i get told all the time that an lt1 is a waste of time.

I agree mainly with what everyone else said. Keep it N/A and just enjoy the reliability and gas mileage.

If you want an L67 powered car my Buick is always for sale. Bring that down to Danville and drive the Regal home, Id love that Camaro. Haha.

lol....better than this forum, people actually help instead of hate, I don't have a chip on my shoulder, literally every time I say anything about this f***** car, I get bull**** attitude from people like you. The pacesetter gaskets are cheap, the stock ones or other thicker aftermarket ones are fine. Pacesetters are hand made, 99% of the time there are no issues. The front end of the car has a gm bow tie painted in red from the factory, to make it match I bought the red insert decal. I change the color of the GS stripes all the time, atm they are gold.

btw, you quoted a post in this thread that was quite old, and irrelevent, but thanks for your useless input, tuning 3.8l's is not impossible or even that hard, most just can't due it. btw, there's a dude with a cammed and m90'd bird that dynoed up around 400hp, not to bad for a s*** motor and a guy with a chip on his shoulder in a slow v6 pony car.

I beat the p*** out of this and average 23-24 mpg. I could get to 260whp with an s/c, meth and a smaller pulley and good tune, thats beating lt1's, and I could do that for significantly less than "buying and building" an lt1. The 3.8L is leaps and bounds better than the lt1 for a reliable engine, I know more people with lt1s that have issues than don't. Why dont you swap an ls1 instead of working on your lt1? same reason im working on my 3.8l instead of swapping in an lt1.

I plasti-dipped the sail panel flat black, I think it looks good. I initially did it because the clear faded/paint checked in 1 spot on the top sail panel, but I ended up liking it so I left it instead of sanding down the sail panel and paying someone $200 to repaint it.

I like staggered wheels, I'd rather go carve up some country/mountain roads than drive in a straight line, the wagon wheels at 18x9.5 just plant the a** down. I have 3 and half sets of wheels though, so idgaf about rotating tires anyway.

It's funny, I see people building single cam honda's and ka-t nissans, and no one chews them out, yet, you put some bolt-ons on a 3.8L camaro, and your the biggest d*** on the forum and everyone feels the need to tell you how f****** stupid you are.

succeed in what? Its not a job, its not a class, its a car. I never said anywhere in this build thread that I want a 12 second car, if I did, I'd agree modifying it would be a waste, as there are better platforms to hit that goal. My goal is no where close to that, I'd like to dip into the 14's, maybe down the road, do some type of drivetrain build, instead of camming it, I want to go the s/c route, much cheaper and way more unique, with an m90, i'll break into 13's.

If I never see 13's its ok though, I enjoy driving this car everyday, yes I get upset with it, and at the end of the summer I lost sight of what I wanted. I had an offer for a 2ga dsm about a month ago, top end built with bc cams, big 16g turbo, apexi tuner, etc, guy wanted to straight trade me, I drove is car, and honestly didn't like it as much as mine.

I appreciate your advice, and your just trying to help, but still, after being told the same thing over and over again it gets tiring, I apologize to all for acting like a d***, but refer to posts one and two before judging the car and owner, I'm not looking to make it a 400hp v8 killer, just looking to be closer to new v6 pony cars.

I'm having fun working on my V6 mustang, they can still be made to handle well and look good even though the might not have the power of the V8. I enjoy seeing something different being done and people saying it's a waste of money to mod, if you think about it, it's really only a waste if you're not happy with it. As long as you're happy with the car and the outcome of it that is really all that matters.

So please just keep on doing what you're doing with it and make it your own.

Thanks man, do you have a build thread for your mustang? I agree, I don't think my car is a waste of money, I know I won't get what I put into it back, but you never do when you modify something anyway.

You're dead on, I figure as long as I get my enjoyment out of the mods then as far as i'm concerned I got my monies worth.

Yeah I do have a build thread for it, but I haven't really done much updating on it. Actually there isn't that much progress for the car lol.

Thanks a lot man, I've been pretty inactive for a while. So I'll post some updates. I ended up parting my s/c build, I still have the blower, but not the rest of the top swap. Since then the top swap on fbody 3800 cars has become a lot more common. Anyway, I then bought this for a project car.

Did some work to it, but although the body had zero rust, it needed so many parts, so I flipped it for a few extra bucks than I out into it, and purchased a home made turbo kit for the Camaro, After some unfortunate repairs, intake mani gasket, and some other stuff, I got sick of beating on and breaking this car, so I sold and made a few bucks on the kit, I still have a Garret .60/.63 turbo from it, but I'm working on selling that. I also sold off my pacesetter headers, wish I didn't, but the mani bolts wouldn't budge, and I didn't feel like paying to have them installed.

turbo kit

While all this was going on, I've still been modifying the car. This last summer saw these changes.

-Car lowered 2 inches with DNA Motoring springs/KYB AGX shocks.
-Founder's Performance rod end/rod end adjustable lower control arms.

Dipped the wheels black and lowered the car.

Dipped the wheels white.

Flat blacked the hood with plasti dip because the paint underneath was checking.

Got tired of the lack of paint, so removed the plasti dip on the wheels, the hood was a pita, I need to actually sand it down, and I wanted to fix some rust bubbles on the underside of the lip, so I picked this up at the local junk yard for $35.

Got tired of beater/missile look, so the teal hood got sanded down and painted. After getting quotes of $250-400 I bought some spray cans and sand paper and did it myself for $10 lol.

Not to bad, right?

End of summer into winter transition.

For the future.

Picked up and mocked up some RS sides/rear lips. Will install after the snow is done.

Not sure what I'm going to do about the front, Ideally I'd like to buy a JP style front lip, but...it's pricey.

New wheels, need to order 1 inch 5x114.3 to 5x120 adapters, also needs front tires. They're MHT Paragon Z wheels, 18x8.5 and 18x10. Offset is going to be cutting it close lol. Especially after I drop the car another 1/1.5 inches F/R

Just got my Summit Racing catback, finally ditching the side exit...it's scraped holes all through the tail pipe and muffler lol. Should be installed in a week or so.

So what ever happened with the turbo kit money? Besides fixing the car's maintenance repairs, some of it went to this. 1980 Camaro.

The build thread for this can be found here:

haha. I wasn't knocking the KA, it was my plan to use one in my shell before I sold it. My point is that both engines are not the "v8's" of those platforms, yet people don't bash you if you mod them like they do for modifying a 3800 f-body.
