Been a while since I've had to do it but it should be under View -> Proof Setup. Basically it allows you to make adjustments on your PSD and see how the printer will react via profiles.

Been a while since I've done it last, too, but Renegade is on the right track. It's under View -> Proof setup, and select custom. You'll need the specific paper profile for that printer to accurately simulate it in PS.

I used to help run the digital print lab at Penn State. Really wish I could get back into printing photos.

You should be able to ask the company that does your printing for their printers profile. I work in In-design more and have requested the profile from the place that we get our printing done. They had no problem giving it to me because it made their job easier. I could load their profile and set it up so it was "ready" for print.

How is the 28mm 1.8 IQ wise? I've always been curious about that lens.

Thanks for explaining that guys, but this above is what i have been doing for years, in addition to actually making physical prints and comparing those profiles with what im actually seeing on the machine in which im using. once again, this whole thing popped up because my laptop display, which has been pretty decent for the years that ive actually been making and selling prints, has decided to gradually take a dump. so basically when im trying to edit new shots, i can tell hide nor hair how to make proper adjustments, especially in contrast and exposure, not so much color. so that just propelled me to get a dedicated monitor to edit my photos with. with my laptop taking a dump, i also have to get a new one of those as well, but after all of this, im accutely aware that no laptop monitor, save for high dollar macs, are good enough for proper photo editing and calibration so i need to focus on the dedicated monitor.
man, when it rains it pours huh...i need a new laptop, a monitor, tires for my sti, fpr for my supra, diff seals for my desoto, water heater for the house.....it never ends!!!

Love the building shot. The lighting one intrigues me but doesn't leave me full-filled. But who am I to critique.

critique? of course you can critique, that is one of the reasons why we post here. i value each and every ones opinion. in the end, it only has to satisfy me though right! but that is what i was saying about that lightning shot, there is something missing and i know what it is. foreground. but being that i was in the middle of the med, there was no foreground for miles! a neat shot, but not one that i love. perhaps thats why it sat in my computer for 5 years.

Didn't expect it to be that soft. Guess it will be the 35L for me when I purchase a 5Dii.

thats a great lens, i would have suggested getting the 17-40L if you are on a budget, the DOF is quite good for a 4.0 since it is a wide lens.
