The lady I work with got struck by lightning

Just like the title says, she was struck by lightning on her way in this morning. She was driving down 95 and heard a loud boom, then all this glass flew up to the front of the car. She spun out and pulled off to the shoulder before people hit her. BTW this was right after the accident on the north-bound side of 95 at Cottman. She was actually already on the phone with 911 reporting the other accident. Crazy world. But she if fine and actually came to work. I know i wouldn't have come!

as long as you are not touching anything metal inside the car you will be alright. Luckily most car interiors are covered in cheap plastic. Though, those of you with a metal shift nob are holding onto a nice lightning rod

Against common belief, the tires do nothing to protect you. It is the metal frame/body of the car.

+1, and don't go near windows with braces during a lightning storm either. Lightning doesn't mind going through glass to touch down :P

I almost was hit by lightning. I was out in a field, under some trees trying to get some pictures of lightning. The storm was a number of miles away, and most of the lightning looked to be horizontal strikes so I figured I was safe.

At one point the area got real bright and I saw it above my head, maybe 30-40 feet above and then heard the crash as I bolted as fast as I could to my car. Then there were a few more as I ran. I never did get a good picture...

I just can't imagine being that close to it and not realizing what happened. A tree was struck across the street from my old house and i have never heard anything that loud before.

No i don't think so. She drove it home and she lives about 10 mins. from where it happened. But then again she didn't even know what her front bumper was called, so it could have done some damage.
