He is being demonized and I pant participating in the banter from what I've seen... Even the strong dem antis at my work were saying " 'they' don't really think banning rifles will stop this do 'they' " and the best one, "I thought assault rifles were what the military used that fire non stop when you pull the trigger" I lol'd and dropped some knowledge. It is driving me crazy how many times I've heard clip and machine gun on the news recently though.

You mean for the end of the world? I think we'll have the advantage!

In all seriousness, there's 300 MILLION+/- guns in the US... good luck collecting even 1 million of them.

And the company that had the majority stake in bushmaster jumped ship..

http://newyork.newsday.com/business/...-gun-1.4347780

As well as legislation going down the pipeline to require permits to buy ammo in CA... this really is getting ugly.

I think I'm going to buy a nice quality complete lower and a few mags, then I'll build the rest as I go..

Thoughts?

Also, these are pretty good, right?

Just ordered 5 pmags, hopefully their website was up to date and they aren't sold out. Would have gotten six, but there was a 5 mag maximum per order.\

Any suggestions for lowers? I don't mind buying a complete AR, but I've always wanted to build my own.
I've been looking at the Colt complete lowers but they are so freaking expensive...

There's like 100000000 m&p complete lowers on gun broker for 389.. I'm thinking of ordering one or four

Where'd you order the pmags from? They're not available from magpul direct

Read a pretty solid review on these guys, so even though they were like $3 more per mag than most people (who are sold out btw), I went ahead with the order

http://www.laruetactical.com/leupold

*edit- is the M&P pretty solid? How's the finish? I can always upgrade the receivers internals if I want to, right?

Laurie is good... I'm gonna order 15 just in case... 5 of the new windowed ones, 5 non windowed new ones and 5 original pmags. Worst case I have extra mags haha. M&p is good.

15? Damn... lol

I ordered 5 of the windowed ones, but maybe I should place a second order for another 5 if it will get that bad.

So the M&P is good then? Should I get a complete lower or a stripped?

Worst case nothing happens and I have extra mags haha. If you're getting an ar because you're worried you won't be able to in the future just worry about the receiver, ATM that's the only part that has to go through An FFL. The last time evil black gunlegislation passed, anyone with a complete rifle purchase, or a lower receiver , before the effective ban date was grandfathered in.

That's exactly what I am counting on... I probably won't be able to build it completely for a while, but at least I'll have the lower and that's the part that counts for the ban.

Now I have another question- go with an AR rifle or pistol? I don't even know what the difference is.

*edit- I put in a second order for another 5 windowed pmags lol

*Second Edit- http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.ht...f=122&t=259822

Looks like if I decide to build it as an AR pistol first, I'd have to go through the tax stamp process and register it as an SBR. I think I'll pass on that... I don't really want to go below a 16" barrel anyway.

Ar pistol is just that... A pistol, it becomes an sbr when you add a stock, that's when you need a stamp Just get a receiver or two, decide how you want to build it later, an ar pistol and rifle use the same receiver. (Ar pistols suck for everything but having a cool factor though)

Edit

Just read that link, what it's saying is its easier to make a receiver without a stock when new into either a pistol or rifle, whereas a receiver with a stock would have to be a rifle or sbr with a stamp,

a stripped receiver won't have a stock so that would be a non issue if you go that route.
