What's YOUR definition of a street car?

I just wanna start a conversation amongst car enthusiasts and not a huge argument. What's your definition of a street car?

My definition of a street car is pretty much low profile and easy to drive. Nothing over 350whp (300 on a honda), A/C, P/S, semi quiet.

Anything that can be driven on the street comfortably. So as already stated, PS, AC, full interior, i would say that no roll cage would be a requirement but ill make an exception cus i have seen them tucked pretty nicely along with full interiors. E85 or pump gas, I can see E85 being acceptable as its becoming more widely available at regular stations nationwide. The performance aspect is merely a side effect.

If you can drive it to and from the track after racing, it's a street car. But IMO street cars are pretty boring and limited.

If it is legal for the road it is a street car to me. Does not matter if it does not have creature comforts, gets five miles to the gallon on race fuel, or has a jungle jim cage inside.

true but it would be more fun to drive a 10 second car on the street than to trailer a 8-9 second car to the track and roll it off the trailer and drive it in a straight line for a few seconds. just my opinion

Inspected, registered, pump gas, all working lights and wipers. Can be driven to track and home after making full out passes.

i agree with the definition, but a lot of people could say that a drag car is pretty boring and limited

different strokes for different folks

I find it easier to separate street car into two classes...."street legal"....and "street car"....As said above, i call a street car one with full interior, no cage, full accessories that it came with like AC/PS/etc....pump gas only (and no 104 or similar just because you live near a station that carries it).

A "street legal" car isn't a street car in my book. Sure it may pass inspection and drive to and from the track, but I hold them in different categories.

EDIT: Just want to throw in a small exception into "street car". If the car you bought violates some of those rules from the factory as ordered, then it can still be labeled a street car....i.e GT3RS, Viper ACR, etc.... Although I think they'd be horrible street cars lol

Any car i can drive more than a hour at a time doesnt need ac or ps just cant suck to drive because of its racing seats or cage.

Just because I am building a drag car doesn't mean I'm talking specifically about drag racing, lol. Point I was making is that the street is limiting. Doesn't really matter what type of racing you're talking about, if you take the car off the street and purpose build it, you're free to push boundaries and do things that a street car will never be able to accomplish due to legality, practicality, etc. IMO, if you're going to build a car to race, build a car to race. If you're going to build a street car, build a car that is comfortable and still fun. I find the whole push 1000whp, race from rolls on the street, and call it a street car amusing.
