Finally In The 11's, Far Into The 11's!

After ditching my 16g setup last year for my HX-35 setup I though 11's were a lock first pass of the season. I was very wrong. My fastest pass with the car was a 12.3 with the 16g. I took the car to the track twice and could only net mid 12's. I new something wasn't right.

Right before the Shootout we discovered I had thrown a rocker possibly on my first start up of the car back in March. The lobe that rocker rode on had NO signs it was ever rode on besides the big old scratch from the rocker shooting off. I knew right away this is where all my power was being lost.

So I ordered 600$ worth of parts the week before the Shootout to attempt to get everything back together. I took the head off to lap the valve that had been closed all year just to make sure it was good. Got everything back together by the Tuesday before the Shootout but we just could get it to stay running and had no idea why. Ended up not taking my car to the Shootout because of it.

So we get back from the Shootout and I'm throwing all these part at it and nothing. So I'm going over all the connectors and WTF?! My damn map sensor was plugged in backwards. That was it my fuc$#%^ map sensor was plugged in backwards. So I took the car out and made some pulls and it felt so much better than before and it wasn't even recently tuned since I made some fuel changes. Runs very rich right now.

Everything on the logs looked good and all my buddies were headed over to our local track, Maple Grove for a Grudge night. I wanted to go and just watch but at the very last second decided "what the hell, I'll run."

Very first pass against my buddies fox body I run an 11.67 @ 120. I knew the run felt good but didn't know it was that good. When I got my timeslip I was literally screaming at the top of my lungs. My buddy was right behind me and said the guy giving out the slips was like, "Do you hear that guy?" lol. I've been waiting almost 2 full years to best my 12.3 pass but could never do it until last night where I raped it.

Second pass I shifted into 2nd way to early and bogged to a 12.0 @ 117. Of course this was the only pass I have video of.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-pcj...1&feature=plcp

And on my 3rd and final pass I ran a 11.68 @ 118. Here is a pic of all 3 of my time slips.

This was only on 25 psi with 93 pump gas UNtuned. I want to get it retuned asap on 30-33 psi. My Holset is screaming at my for a rebuild so I will probably do that before anything right now. I'm also running out of injector with these PTE 1000's. I think I should get them flow tested because I shouldn't be maxing them out yet. I did buy them used. But all that aside I don't think I've EVER been happier. Nights like those is what makes all of the bull**** well worth it. Sorry for my novel, hope you enjoyed!

It takes a lot more than just parts to get in the 11s. Good job. I have been fighting my car all year to get there too. The whole car and driver have to work good together. There is a two day import event there next weekend so you should be able to get a bunch of passes

Not every trip can be the best, but **** it feels good to not only beat a PB, but demolish it! ESPECIALLY if youve been at it for 2 years, I would have given up Good stuff!

I think 2 things, one, if your injectors are almost maxed out now, might as well get new ones and save the time, i dont think you'll be able to boost 30+ on your current ones.

secondly, it looks like your leaving ALOT on the table. your 2nd run you hit 100mph in the 1/8.. Thats good for 125+ in the 1/4 and thats 10's territory with traction

Great job man. You still got a crappy 60ft means you can get a better run once you improve it.

Yea man it certainly isn't easy. But it made getting there that much more exciting. You will get there and it will be worth all the bull****. And yea I saw that event for this weekend but my turbo is screaming at me for a rebuild so I'm going to be sending it out this week. Also gotta figure out why I'm getting 110% idc. Once those two issues are sorted out then I'm getting tuned with 5-7 psi more of boost. Hopefully some low 11's come with it.

Haha yea man thanks I couldn't have written it any better. At the end of the night I had no voice left becuase I was screaming "YESSS!!!" at the top of my lungs lol. And yes there is a lot left on the table. Like I said the injectors, turbo, and low boost are holding me back. But I am addressing them all ASAP. There is an event mid October that I'm shooting for and hopefully I get under 11.3. Or right around there I would be happy. And I saw that 100mph in the 1/8 mile and I was like "holy ****" haha.

Thanks man! And yea I know I didn't mind the 1.65. But I'd like to constantly be down in the low 1.6's, high 1.5's. Might have to actually set up the anti-lag and get some better street tires and let some air out. Almost every one of those launches I felt the tires break loose a bit. Especially on that 1.65 60'.

Good job! I wouldn't call those bad 60' especially considering the cars setup. You still planing on having K.P. Tuning dial in the car? Looks like it has some potential.

Thanks! Yea I didn't think they were bad just not as good as they could be. And yes I was gonna have him retune it this coming weekend but chances are I won't have my turbo back by then. He tuned it before but I unknowingly had a rocker that was in the wrong place, aka intake valve not opening. Since then I got that fixed, rewired the fuel pump and bumped up the pressure so the tune is all out of wack. Still ran the times I did though like that.

Like I said I would like to run 30-33 psi when I get it retuned(only 25 now) and have him setup the anti-lag. Hopefully I have this injector duty cycle thing figured out by then because that will surely hold me back.

Like an idiot I didn't save any logs from the track. I do have a couple 3rd gear pulls and it starts at about 13.5v and dropped to 12.7v at 8k.
