so, obviously, "replica" and "one-off" have different definitions to you.

"Current kit cars are frequently replicas of well-known and often expensive classics and are designed so that anyone with a measure of technical skill can build them at home to a standard where they can be driven on the public roads."

"The definition of a kit car usually indicates that a manufacturer constructs multiple kits of the same vehicle which they then in turn sell. This should not be confused with 'hand built cars' or 'Special' cars, which are typically built from scratch by an individual."

given the above definitions, the car he built is not considered a replica or kit-car.

Huh? This logic makes no sense. How can you tie a kit car in as an umbrella definition of replica? Replica is defined as "A copy or reproduction of a work of art, especially one made by the original artist." How is what he made not a copy or reproduction?

Just because a kit car is a replica doesn't mean you can't make a replica that's not a kit. '

To bust out some SAT analogy wisdom:
square:rectangle as kit car:replica

i don't know what to tell you. i am not the one that made the definition correct, therefore telling me your point is worthless. i'm also not arguing with anyone else. i just posted the true definitions of the words as they apply to the subject of the automobile. if you don't like it, argue your invalid point with the person that invented the definition. you're telling me you don't like that tangerines look similar to oranges and they should be the same thing. i'm telling you i don't give a ****. this is the definition of a tangerine and this is the definition of an orange, do what you want with them.

I respected you up until you started posting in this thread... If you don't think this is a replica you're an idiot that can't be reasoned with. End of story. HE BUILT A CAR TO LOOK LIKE A LAMBORGHINI, THAT WAS NOT BUILT BY LAMBORGHINI... how can I make it any simpler for you? Throw a few more dictionary definitions at me, that'll help your case...
