I would def be interested if others are. If you figure , its more time then money. You wont need big money to do a 1g car esp with a 14b setup. Not so much a full expensive build off, just a 14b 1g build off for fun and then a meet at a track to b.s. and see who has the quickest 14b car out of the bunch!

I know a couple of guys off the top of my head from the Lancaster, PA area that have running (basic bolt on) 14b cars. I'll send them to this thread and see what we can come up with. It would be nice to meet up at some point this summer. Like you said, even if it's just a bunch of guys to B.S. Still better then sitting at home typing the summer away, bench racing!

2 of the guys I've talked to so far are interested. The one isn't a member here on TST, but is willing to come hang out and make some passes. Mid July is when he would be free.

The other guy is a member here and is down to go at it to. His car is running, just not where he wants it. He said he's down to meet up anytime.

My car isn't even close to ready, but mid July sounds reasonable to me to. We're all within 1 hour from Maple Grove Raceway Park.

It would be nice to have a group of at least 10 cars I think. That way we could do a little mini elimination, maybe have everyone pitch in say $10 and have the winner get the $100 in the end? What do you think?

I should just put a 14b on my car and see what it does.

  • stock TD05H turbine wheel - clipping optional
  • MHI bolt pattern turbine housing - 6cm, 7cm, E3 7m all are acceptable.
  • Wastegate is all open. external gate, internal gate, or NO WASTEGATE all good

Realistically, the 6cm housing vs 7cm housing is the only debatable thing and availability of a good working 6cm housing pretty much precludes everyone demanding it be totally stock. There simply aren't any more uncracked 6cm housings out there, so the newer 7cm housings are accepted as the way to go, be it from a 16g, E3 turbo, or the knockoff turbine housings. I don't think it makes a huge difference in power either way.
i don't understand why you would clip a perfectly good fitting wheel to the exhaust side. i mean your basically loosing spool for no reason what-so-ever... before the custom 47lb td05hr im running now i had a 35lb td04hr which needed the wheel to be clipped to fit, this hurt spool, but was the only way it would fit.

When they are talking about clipping they are strictly talking about the turbine wheel, they clip them on angles, 5*, 10*, 15* etc, Although this does hurt spool slightly it does increase top end, with a 14B being such a quick spooling turbo clipping the turbine wheel a few degrees should yield a negligible increase in lag, but also keep in mind this is for drag racing applications were every little bit of top end power counts, especially when dealing with a turbo that probably flows 35 lbs/min, thus lag is really a non issue.

Carver we should both put 14Bs on our cars and have a little Meth VS pump gas run for fun :P But in all seriousness I have had multiple 14Bs spin the compressor nut off during 23+ psi blasts

^ wouldnt be out of the question ive seen a RWD do that with over 600hp with a good enough tire...

i always like stock turbo battles, but could never sink that much money into the R/D for it. theres so much precision because the pool of people against you is so big.

I think a local 14b shootout would be fun. Especially if everyone is down to share what they've learned (I know some people aren't going to share everything). It would be cool to see some stock turbo guys line up, makes for some good close drag races! How's everyone feel about Maple Grove?

My one buddy asked me about it last night, and I was like heck yeah man, I'm pretty sure it's still going to happen mid July. My car is at a stand still right now because of my buddy and I's schedules not matching up, but I still feel I can have the car ready (road worthy and running well enough) for then. I think maybe the weekend after July 4th is probably the best bet right now. How long would it be till you'd have a 14b car together?
