I've had this HD for the past 3-4 years, filled it with pictures, videos, DVDs and music. It's just been sitting for awhile and the other day i tried to bring up some old photos of my old dog that passed, but the HD wouldn't be picked up by any of the computers in our house (both mac and windows) i primarily use macs and have gone to the support sites and received different answers, but apparently with recent OS updates, outdated HD's are no longer read

so are there any computer guru's that could possibly help me out with either restoring the HD to be used, or even just transferring the 500gb onto another one of my working HD's. i've thought about geek squad but figured i'd check in here first.

some info if it helps: it's a western digital external HD, MyBook Edition, 500Gb. I'm using both an iMac running 10.7 and a macbook running 10.5(?), also tried this on a toshiba running windows 7, all 3 with no luck. it shows its powered up / trying to work, but just never pops up in any of the drives.

Cliff Notes: External HD will not pop up when plugged into USB, can anyone help me restore it / transfer the files to another HD??

I've hooked up old drives to my Windows 7 system with no issues. Just get an external case that has a USB out and you should be good to go.
