Morimoto MH1 Projector Conversion w/ 50 Watt HID's

This is a 50 watt VVME, 4300K HID kit in Morimoto MH1 4.1 bi-xenon projectors. They are mounted in OE housings with lexan lenses.



The first set of photos was all taken with my Nikon D2x in manual mode. Shutter speed, ISO, f-stop, etc., are all the same. The fence is higher then the asphalt where my Jeep is sitting. The lights are at the proper height. The other photos are varying, including showing the interior LED lights activated. I still need to work on my specific aiming points (Passenger side is pointed a bit toward driver side), but this should give you an idea of what it looks like. The 50 watt kit is a bit more white/yellow-ish than my prior 35 watt kits, but there are only about 1.5 hours on them right now:

As you can see they are dirty and still need some sanding to get the ends perfectly flat:

Regarding the lens: The lens that comes on the light is fresnel. It distorts the flat cutoff and reduces light output when used with a projector lens:


I've been running VVME kits for 5, 6, 7? years now? It's been some time. I've purchased several kits for projector setups and I've only had 1 ballast and 1 bulb that were defective. I'll throw in that MANY of my buddies have purchased from them as well and have had no issues.

How hard was it to retro fit them? Could it be done on a set of 02 Silverado lights? I want projectors but all the ones for my truck are ricer as ****, and they suck... price?

Have you considered trying to find some clear lens lights (aftermarket/ebay) and doing the retrofit on them? I love the light output from the sets you've done, but to me they just don't look finished with the lexan lenses.

I did I ordered up a set, they arrived via UPS, damaged. Glass was cracked and the housing destroyed. Not something I want on the front of my Jeep. I like the strength of the lexan, but prefer the look of the glass lenses. Unfortunately at this point, I can't have both. The cheapest set on eBay are $100, which are the ones I purchased. Most others go for $150-$350 which is just stupid. Not a huge aftermarket for this niche unfortunately.
