did you dip that practice piece in water? be careful with real stuff, it forms instant tiny rust, but other then that it looks great, keep practicing, its very easy to pick up!

10.

VAC head is almost done so the motor will finally be ready to assemble

in the mean time I worked on my bay a bit more... shaved everything, stitched most of it, started on the bondo work

Started on the hood.. Dont worry, this is a rough outline but you get the idea. Heat extractor ducts on both sides.

anyone have advice on primer / paint for the engine bay???

I want something heavy so it hides imperfections and can take some abuse.

What about that rough black paint used on the beds of pick up trucks? I don't know how good it is with engine heat, but it is tough and hides dirt and imperfections.

automotive epoxy primer works, comes in black white and a few other colors, sometimes its even tintable, is a primer, but holds up to elements unlike other primers, and has a somewhat rubbery texture, but can be sanded down smooth if you ever wanted to paint
