And, because I'm anal, Stealth/3000GTs are not DSMs.

Strike Number Three:
Toyota and Subaru really messed up on these cars. The wheels and ride height completely ruin anything that's cool about them, not to mention that they're grossly under-powered at 200hp and 2700-2800lbs.

Aren't wheels and ride height the first and only things people change when they care about automotive aesthetics instead of performance anyway? 2800lb is a failure of epic proportions though. That car is like the hot chick in highschool that got fat as fuuuuuuuuu when she went away to college.

hideous fail futuristic wheels tho, the wheels they threw on the ft86 look like some pep boys ricer ****. IMO ride height and wheels both match what is on the new car stock for stock.

2822 lbs close to 30k price tag and body roll? how is it a turning machine when a v8 car with its base model 6 cyl will probably hand it its head on a platter around a track? cant wait for the mustang v6 genesis i4 fr-s shootout... hell throw the honda si in there too and that new miata is gona destroy the fr-s at exactly what its trying to do.

sorry but 2700lbs is a guess this car is a cheap version of an s2k without the fun of that 3rd cam lobe vtec bwaaahhhh which hurts it because even test drivers are saying the car runs out of power with 1k rpm left why are people so dick hurt this is a 2nd rate car? with what its trying to do the miata, the s2k, the rx-8 and the genesis are loads better. <may as well be a fact.

cars will never be as cool as they used to be. The fact is, we're old. Kids who will be driving in 10 years will be looking at the FR-S like we looked at 80's cars when we were 10. You see how messed up it is? Another example of this would be videogames, except for the fact that videogames are, well, MUCH better nowadays.
Carried my winter wheels downstairs and my summer wheels upstairs. Hope I don't have to actually drive the Miata at all this winter. I would prefer the trusty Shadow to fulfill it's mission in life with complete loyalty. ![]() Now, to keep this thread cool because that pic ain't much special...

Why isn't NJ chat thread stickied?
Also, as a stock car, BRZ/FR-S/FT-86 sucks. Some of the reviews I've read say it has horrid body roll, and in the BRZ video I watched, it looks like the king pin angle of the front knuckle is all derped and doesn't let the wheel camber in right.

Here's what is essentially a modern Miata, and people are wondering why I think it's going to sell well. If you compare a Miata to a Mustang, or Civic, or whatever, it'll look pretty bad too -- but that's not the point. Not every car is a dick waving contest of numbers to see who is the fastest. If it was, the Camaro wouldn't sell -- and yet it has outsold the new Mustang, despite the new Mustang being better in literally every way. The experience is what is important to most people, and if C&D, MT, Autocar, and Inside Line are all spouting off how this car is a great driving experience and "the best sports car in 10 years" then it probably is pretty fun to drive. I keep hearing calls for a turbo, or for a lighter car, or whatever. It's all about economics. All of those things would push the price up, and right now, sports cars really aren't selling that well period -- unless they do something else impressive as well (see: fuel mileage). I mean, really. You know why they didn't want to make a 370z competitor (basically another Supra)? Because yet another impractical sports car in the 30-40k bracket wouldn't sell. I know that's a hard pill to swallow, but don't take my word for it. Just look at the market.

Idk, guess I'm mad that it's not a true '86'.
It should have been like a Civic SI, where you have sports susp, a sporty motor, etc. For the moment, I'm pretty sure this is a base car, which doesn't make sense if it's an '86' inspired car. (Implying that there should be one trim level, and one only it's a true '86' and that's a GT/GTS/Whatever but sporty trim.)
