don;t go too crazy, our trannys are only rated for 350 crank horsepower, not even wheel horsepower.

And I recommend doing a fuel pump if you haven;t already, it will keep the motor from leaning out too much and causing a ringland issue

Has there really been many issues with people blowing trans's? i feel like its more of a myth bc of the older rex trans...

And next on the list is the intercooler, then a fuel pump and a tune. Still considering an ewg set up and possibly uel headers. This seems like a great package.

Thought our trans (08+) were a lot stronger with hardened gears. I know the bugeyes had glass gears.

i think the true facts on this issue are non existent...but truthfully I'm not too worried about my trans, or my motor holding up to bolt ons i take pretty good care of my cars and don't beat the **** out of them so for the most part they always seem to treat me well.

Yeah, the 08+ have the Legacy gears in them, which are stronger than the previous years WRX's. Still nothing compared to the STI 6 speed though.

There's plenty of guy over on NASIOC pushing well over 300 whp with no transmission problems.

Looks like you have a good idea of what you want to do with the car, I wish you good luck!

You should check out Torqued Performance tunes, I'm running his stage 3 map and it's awesome.

The trans will be fine. Clutch may not. Like nick said, a fuel pump is a MUST. YOu are on the right track with replacing the intercooler as i have seen them pop the end tanks at around 20psi. The 11's are EASY to get to 300whp. I recently tuned one with nothing more than an intake and hit 293whp. Deatschwerks is coming out with a drop in fuel pump for your car so you wont have to modify your fuel pump housing.

Stay away from webtunes. You need a tune tailored to YOUR car, not some generic base map.

Pick your turbo to go with your intercooler. Remeber you have more turbo choices if you ditch the legacy fitment ;)

I was waiting for an expert to weigh in!

293whp with *just* an intake?? <le sigh>

I saw the Process West IC now has a silicone hose adapter that lets the 08+ run any 02-07 style turbo. Pretty slick, imagine that opens up a LOT more turbo options.

I actually sent you an email last night with some questions. But Yea I'm ordering the DW fuel pump as soon as it comes out, and the pw intercooler is backordered until christmas time but ill be ordering that as soon as it comes in as well. Im pretty sure I'm going to have you tune the car by mid-late january. Basically whenever that fuel pump gets out.

haha its a great deal. And they say equal is good for a few more horsepower, but you lose the subaru exhaust rumble...something thats not worth 4-5hp to me.
