looking to purchase a GSR, what to looks for?

hey all ive decided my next car will be a GSR integra of the DC body style but i dont know alot about them, i used to own a DA integra with a b20b and it was fun so i figure it is time to get something nicer but get baxk into the honda/acura game. just looking for common flaws or things to watch out for when looking a car over, also if theres any good resources on info about them that would be appreciated too. thanks again guys and keep your eyes open for one because i know they're not so easy to find unmolested or beaten

typical rust issues. those cars are very solid. i would recommend checking wires and stuff like that.
the ppl these cars go thru hack the crap out of them. im actually selling one i purchased a few days ago. i settled for a two door even though i really wanted a 4 door.

It takes 5 minutes to do a compression test on one of those cars. I would def do that before buying one. Id make sure it hits vtec nicely, and shifts smoothly even at high rpm. Check for a clean air filter, and cleanish oil. A clean engine bay says a lot about how a car has been taken care of.

Id also try to buy one from a white person.

team-integra.net is one of the bigger sites for integras specifically. But honda-tech also has a lot of info under all the dumb stuff that occurs on there like any other forum.

Just check for rust in the rear quarter panels like said above. Check vins, ask for maintenance documents too. Other than that look at it like any other car as far as suspension/bushing conditions, wiring etc. Get one as stock as possible from an old guy or lady and you'll be golden haha

There isnt a VIN on the motor. Its on the trans, right next to the block stamp (B18C1).

ok thanks thats what i thought. who knew it would be so hard to find a reasonably priced gsr, other then a select few which are already sold or have deposits everyone wants 6k for their GSR with 150k miles and faded paint.

Thats why I bought an LS. Its easier to find clean ones for a reasonable price, and the difference in price can go to an LS-T setup, or towards a GSR swap. I GSR swapped mine. Had the motor rebuilt with B16 pistons and Crower 3 cams, and spent around $2000 on just the motor. It was an insanely fun setup (197whp, naturally aspirated), but if I had to do it over again, Id probably go B18B turbo. Power for dollar, you really cant beat it.

It is the import tax. Thats why I don't buy them. Good car or not, I'm not paying that much for a car thats 10 years old with high miles.

LS-T can put down 250whp without much of an issue and limited lag.

good luck, the reason the rusted ones go for that much is because the motor are pretty damn stout and will last 250,000+ miles

your not paying an import tax, your paying for a car that you will be able to drive for the next 5 years and not have to worry about anything breaking.. then after owning it for 5 years you can sell it for very close to what you paid

ive personally had quite a few integras and if you want one cheap and unmolested look down south for a gs/ls thats automatic.. that way it will be rust free and most likely un molested... its fairly easy to convert to stick and do whatever you want from there

This.

My 300hp/271tq setup (that's only limited by injectors until a point where I'll need a throttle body and intake mani work) is amazing.

But anyway. Nice cars are out there. Just keep searching

You dont need either. Stock throttle body is good for more power then an LS head can flow im sure.
