I'll assume you've already shot both of them? Which do you like better? They're both awesome guns, but very different from each other. Personally I love the way HKs feel and shoot, but as I've mentioned here before, I can't reach the HK mag release properly with my right thumb, on any model, because of a previous hand injury. I have to release my grip a bit and spin it in my hand just to drop the mag. That pretty much rules out an HK for carry, just based on my own hands. Between the two (again, for carry) I would have to choose the XD because the mag release sits closer and I can't not be able to make the gun function properly. lol.

If you haven't shot both, go do it ASAP. You'll learn a lot about each and the choice might not even be a choice afterall. I've looked at some guns and thought they were pretty badass, but once I shot them I hated them.

I do have to say though, I shot Brian's XDM 40 at one of our group shoot things and I loved it. It was the first XD that I didn't put down and say "ehh...".

comparing an HK to an XD? Really??

An XD45 was my very first handgun and I still shoot it better than almost any pistol I've ever shot but HKs are just in a different league. Good point was brought up about the mag release though. I wouldn't carry one because I'm too used to a standard 1911-style mag release.

If it's just to add to your collection I'd go HK all the way.

and BRAVO Mike, for what you did in Philly.

There's another one in the works. The date was set for June 25th, but I think it's being moved to another date because there's a 'private' picnic north of here a bit that a lot of the OCers have already planned to attend.

You should come to the next one! Hell for that matter, everyone should! OC/CC - doesn't matter, I was CCing at this last one. It's really about showing up in numbers to support "the fight" in general, not just open carry. I met some great people and we had a hell of a time at the dinner afterward at Champ's in KOP. We had 25 people out on Saturday, hopefully for the next one we can do at least 35+.

Definitely go with the HK then.

When do you want it to be? Pick a time and date and we'll make it happen.

Nice, post up when the meet will be and I will def come to it.

Anybody have suggestions for a good leather retention holster for my XDM? Level 2 should be fine.

Leather as in a thumb break holster? I'd look at Don Hume, Milt Sparks, etc. Those are two of the top names in high end gun leather. If you want an 'off-the-shelf' brand, definitely go with Safariland.

I can't stand leather thumb break holsters though, they're very, um.. cumbersome. lol. My vote is for a Safariland 6377... I got a chance to use one recently and I must say, I'll never to back to using a Serpa! The thumb push-button is freakin' awesome.

I'm ordering one for my M&P.

The mag release on the hk is one of the things I really like on hk's. I can hit it with both my thumb or trigger finger but like others said the two guns are totally different feel like Bane said the fn would be more comparable

I've been checking it out and I really like that holster.

Any idea where I can get one? I could probably search, but I'm just lazy. haha

no idea, I'm lazy and tired as well. lol. just Google-ize it. I'd say MidwayUSA, Brownells, etc. or just buy it direct from Safariland.

Anyone need a badass belt?

I bought my Comp-Tac belt a bit ago and now that I've lost weight pretty quickly I'm at the last hole right against the taper part and it's still way too loose when I'm not carrying IWB. Since the belt is thinner in the front, the buckle won't slide up over the tapered part so I can't even make a new hole.

To give you a good idea of whether it will fit you or not, I wore size 34 pants and I was at the middle hole when carrying - perfect fit. Now I'm in 32-33 and it's pretty loose on the last hole. It's a black belt, 38" long and 1.5" wide to 1.25" tapered, thick and also kydex reinforced so it's very stiff. It made carrying much more comfortable since it supports the weight of the gun much more than a regular thin belt. Honestly this paired with my MTAC holster made a world of difference when carrying. I love this belt and I'm only selling it to offset the $94.70 cost of buying a smaller version of the same thing. I'd take $45 for it.

Here's the belt: http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=43

Make sure you read the sizing instructions too. Let me know if you're interested.. I can ship it or I'll meet you in person pretty much anywhere within reason.

Wait... there's a rapture scheduled for today? I thought it was raptors. I followed the advice I found online that said to change all my door handles to door knobs because raptors can't open doors with knobs. They're smart either way, but the knobs ought to slow them down a bit.

What load would one choose for a raptor anyway? Probably something FMJ because they have tough skin......

(my avatar - because I'm having fun with this 'rapture' thing:
