- APR Chip (around $400 on sale) - Header: I think only 2 companies make good ones. (The header is 5 to 1 and is around $1000+ ...wtf) - Test pipe ($ 230) - Exhaust (around $700) - Just cut out the middle muffler on stock exhaust and weld in piping? (my car as 2 mufflers... weird, i know!) It sucks these things cost soooooo much for my car!! I know the chip will make a decent difference. I also heard the header is amazing upgrade in this car too... but spending around $1,000 on a header.. I dunno. |

Is it 5 speed? I heard this 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine handles boost very well. I think these are the n/a motors of the TTRS which is a boosted 2.5 5 cylinder pushing out 340 crank hp

Yea there are very few boosted Rabbits! The ones that are... make Big power. I can not decide if I want to boost it, or make it a fast NA motor. Intake, chip, header, cams, test pipe, exhaust... makes very good power too.
The only reason I have not boosted already is b/c the stage 1 kits are over $4,000 for the car. |

dude you dont need to get a kit... become a member of vwvortex.com start reading the technical forums about your car and then go into classifieds and start piecing a kit together. I did this with my car for the motor thats being built and when finished it will put down more power than a CTS or Kinetic Stage 3 for my car and cost my prob like 3 grand less

I say you go as low as your local road conditions allow. i had my wheels tucked front and back on my mkv gti and had not real issues. Unless i turned sharp and hit a bump, then there was some 'minor' rubbing lol. I didn't mess with the axles.
I vote for the Thunder Bunny front over the GTI front. ![]() ![]()

I have seen that front end a few times, I just don't like it. I was planning on doing a R32 or GTI front end swap soon, but... I have found something I love. I am gonna have my boy shave the front bumper (side markers & molding under headlights) soon as its warm out. He has already agreed to do it and does amazing work!
Here is what it is going to look like. I have the OEM Votex front lip in these pics too, except mine will be painted silver to match my car. I primed it the other day. ![]() ![]() This is what it looks like with the side markers and molding paint matched:

I have done a lot of work since my original posts. Car looks a lot different now (still clean). I just got a bunch of stuff back from my paint guy yesterday. My friend John @ JM Paint is a great painter, he does paint & custom body work (PM me if you want his contact info). Everything else is already on the car, so I just took a few pics of my new painted Votex front lip.
I got the following painted: - Votex front lip - side molding (used to be black textured) - Molding under both front headlights (used to be black textured) - Shifter plate inside car (used to be chrome) - Orange marker lights on front bumper (painted silver) Back bumper is going in for paint on Wednesday this week. Here are a few pics (paint match is identical in person): ![]() ![]()

Does anyone have a diagram or the part numbers for a GTI front bumper. I need the numbers for the bumper cover, grills, molding, etc. I called VW and they could not help me unless I had a 2008 VW GTI VIN # for them. idiots.
