definitely do that, you can also probably hire a person to do your accounting for a few dollars an hour while you learn the ropes. I did that.

...just sayin.
Comprehension may have taken a back seat, but thats not important I guess.

The two situations are both entirely different.

They both have ups and downs, and I dont want anyone to think I'm complaining that I work too much and never have time for anything - cause frankly if you're complaining about it then you're not doing anything to find a solution for it or better your situation. Its simply you have time, or you dont.
I agree. A lot of it comes down to time management, if you can manage your work schedule, you will be able to do things outside of work.

It's so much more than that. I can't count how many times I've spilled oil all over my garage floor. I am doomed to spill oil and I am REALLY careful. Last time I dropped the drain plug to the 540 into the pan which formed a perfect plug in the pan which caused it to quickly overflow and dump oh 7 quarts onto my garage floor.

If you make or can save $100+ an hour and a mechanic only charges $85 per hour, it's a net positive time wise. Plus a 1 hour billable mechanic job usually takes me at least double time because I'm nit picky and torque everything precisely to spec. Anymore, the big jobs are the only things worth doing. Valley pan surgery on the 540 took me 2 afternoons and saved me $4700 dealer labor costs.

Yeah he thinks that you don't work once you get home, but he probably hasn't thought about taxes, employee pay, LLC paperwork, insurance, competitive research and analysis, marketing, sales, website maintenance, photo processing and uploads, etc. Only half or even less of your real work day is buffing cars. Nobody thinks about this until they try to start a business themselves.

Nick, as a small business owner yourself... i'd like to talk about taxes and pay and **** like that...
I'm going through the same stuff myself. It's all a lot of fun. I'm surprised how cheap an LLC really is though. I got the book MBA in a day. It's a bit half assed and doesn't teach you how to do any specific thing but it does remind you of all the things you should think about as a business owner.

Making a ton of money isn't important enough to me to throw away my free time.
To some people not "working for the man" is paramount above all. In most cases running your own business means taking a pay cut. But to not have some asshat tell you you're 10 minutes late is worth its weight in gold.

I wouldn't call it a success if you have to work 60+ hours a week. Yes, he has money. But that is only part of the equation. There comes a point where personal time > money. It is just a matter of balancing it out. That is my worthless opinion though. Some people just like working hard.

I'm with you on that Jason. There's a time where you just have to find time to take it easy.

I wouldnt say I'm successful yet either, however, I'm working 60 hours a week because I'm trying to meet demand, something has to be going right.
