You really need to spend your time trying to get laid or something, it'll do you wonders.

I make a 40 mile one way trip home, I get home at the EARLIEST 9pm on a light day. You tell me, that you want to go home, and do that **** when you have invoices to fill, emails to respond to, and other work associated paperwork to do. Let alone manage a lifestyle outside of the job.

Ask half the people in here how often I have to force free time. Dont speak about something you know NOTHING about. There is a reason there are mechanics, to do the **** I dont have time to do. I also prefer to have the paperwork that the car is maintained.

I clearly want to spend my "Free" time changing oil in a car, get bent dude.

okay maybe I just don't understand why someone would want to work so much. I guess some people prefer to work as little as possible, while others like to do nothing but work all day long. If you didn't like it, you wouldn't do it. I get it. Personally I couldn't do it, I'd feel like shooting myself in the face if I didn't have time to work on my car or play PS3. Making a ton of money isn't important enough to me to throw away my free time.

My piece of advice, get a lot of Tylenol, or Aleve and have fun reading! haha.

It's all different and relative at the same time. Your layout will be completely different than mine. Your LLC paperwork should lay it out a good bit, your probably going to have to file quarterly being an LLC and make sure you keep your receipts to any and everything.

i really don't think you get it. You don't have the drive that he does. He's running a successful business at a young age, and probably enjoying it. Anyone owning a business would loooove being as busy as nick.

only recently have i been getting home from my 9-5 and programming into the night. I love the money, but i want success and i want comfort into my old age for me and my family.

Working your ass off for your own business is so much better than working your ass off for someone elses.

It's not that you want to when you're running your own show, it's that you have to.

Also, I used to do all my own maintenance, it just isnt there anymore. More important stuff takes it place. I barely even wash the car anymore.

yeah... i have no idea what we're going to do. Caleb and I are 50/50 in the books. and with very little expenses being required by the business itself we're trying to decide how to split the money... or more when to split it.

we've just been doing 50/50 checks. but now that we can accept checks in the business name... do we split the profits as they come in? or do we "pay ourselves" per project and leave money in the account? Without having any employees, or needing any right now, i'm torn on whether to save money in the business' name or mine. I plan on tossing my money into a savings regardless. and then how to taxes work with that? so much stuff involved with setting up a legitimate business entity.

You're already different than I am, you're going to need to keep some kind of capital with the entity itself. As far as the splitting, that'll become a decision between you guys for the most part. It's tough to figure it out all in the first official year or two until it's get flowing. Your best bet is to split up any incoming a few ways, maybe 3 or 4 ways, business, taxes, you, caleb. Or something like that. This way, when expenses do come up, you want to take it from the business rather than your pockets. Keep the tax money aside, as far as how much - you wont really know until tax time obviously so itll be hard to gauge where alot of that expense comes with your business. Also, be sure to get a sales tax license with your county so you can legally charge taxes on any checks/jobs and what not, and put that percentage towards it. It's a lot, but itll be worth the time.

Finding time to do **** when you have a busy life isn't easy. Last semester, I was taking 17 credits in school and working 30+ hours a week. Between doing school work, and earning money, it was hard to find time to do anything.

Oh I know people have it harder out there than I do, I am just making a point. I have a lot more free time now than I did before, but still. I know I neglected to do a few things and basically milked it to the last drop and then was basically forced to repair it.

I'm not trying to make it like that, I know how busy you are, and at that age it's alot. However, the difference is pretty insane when it comes down to it. At the end of the day at least it's all yours still.

Oh no don't think I was taking it like that, I was just stating what I know. I've seen the difference between what I have to work with and what others have to deal with, it is a big difference but eventually I will reach a point where I will look back at my current days and wish I was still doing this vs something else, but that is life.

I've been feeling pretty good about myself lately, I finally stepped out of that world where I allow my parents to help me finance things. The BMW is gone, so the money my dad spent to purchase it for me has went back to him, and I lost out a lot of money. Now I bought my own truck, payed for tags, insurance, etc... and been doing all the work to it myself. Definitely a different feeling driving it knowing its all yours.

Exactly.

Difference is, the 9-5 job world was so much easier than this, however, I'm working for myself so it's ok and I wouldn't trade back. However, it certainly is "Easier" to just receive a check but go home realizing thats all you received is a bit of a downer.

They both have ups and downs, and I dont want anyone to think I'm complaining that I work too much and never have time for anything - cause frankly if you're complaining about it then you're not doing anything to find a solution for it or better your situation. Its simply you have time, or you dont.
