I have no first hand experience with VW though.
i dont need the ecu so he left that out. he sent me a message.

his price in the thread is about 3.3k

normally all of that would be at least 5k

Any car that is old with some miles is going to need work. Parts don't last forever.

142k and the headgasket leaks? Don't think so. 197k on the Honda and no leaks (knock on wood).

All you guys talking about 401k, invest HEAVILY and AGGRESSIVELY. We're young. Even if the market tanks it will come back by the time we retire and then some. If it doesn't, you'll have bigger issues than your 401k (like keeping a job to put money into the 401k to begin with). While your portfolio looks the worst and dropped the most money, you should be buying hard. Every dollar you put in now is huge compared to money put in later. What you do now is most important. Same with new mortgages. Extra payments in the beginning mean a LOT more than extra payments later on. It's tough though because when young you have no extra cash to do these things.

My 401K was hurting for a while but now it's getting better. Still pennies compared to the calculator estimated 4.something million I'm supposed to have by retirement (haha yeah right) though (depends on 3% COL, 1% performance raise per year raise and 12% market returns on average). Of course by the time I'm that age 4.something million will probably only get me a couple mcdonalds value meals.

Keep your mouth shut. The BMW I6's are notorious. Anywhere from 70K to 180K where mine went.

EDIT oh dude, re-read, it's YOUR car. ****ty. Anyway, yeah they are notorious. You're one of many. Incidentally I have the tools :-P It's a scary long job but I got 40,000 miles out of my rebuild (probably more since I'm not tearing it down again just yet to do the bottom internals for boost).

i agree 100% even though it is tanking you are buying still buying new shares and those shares are at super low prices, once things turn around you will have great investments.

My wife and I try to pay $1k on top of our mortgage.

I don't know about the other ****ers but I never laughed. A smart car is practical and we should all be driving cars that size to work (given that there's one of us in a car and no cargo). Add an impractical engine and it's just win. I say this after driving a small block v8 large family sedan to work ;)

It's true. 400hp on a FWD is going to be a bear to handle. Top gear says more than 260HP is unusable. I only had 240HP on the 3000gt and I couldn't get any power down but that was probably more due to alignment and worn bushings changing the toe under load.

260-300 would be perfect. i dont want more than that. But for how much i would get for that, its best value.

Agreeg about the 401k. I am not sure about the mortgage but i dont see any harm in getting your house paid off sooner than later.

I just don't feel like working on this car anymore. I got it to where I wanted it for a while which took a lot of money, but now I don't feel like putting in more as it needs more work than just a headgasket.

Mmmmm, white chocolate.

I'm definitely getting old and can't hang. Or I at least can't handle liquor anymore. I couldn't get out of bed this morning and for real felt like dump.
