someone recently posted on facebook about wondering how atheists celebrate christmas.

while i can't quite remember what i said, it was akin to, "we celebrate it just fine. christmas wasn't even a christian holiday, it was stolen from the pagans... and christ wasn't even born in the winter months. according to what i've read in regards to the bible he was born in the spring months."

honestly... you're not better than me b/c you believe in god and that dinosaurs existed 4000 years ago. No more than i'm better because i don't believe in god and believe the world is hundreds of millions of years old.

i really wish people who were religious were more like my religious side of the family. They're lovely people... very down to earth. They believe in god, they love god, they used to write birthday cards to christ years back... they're the last people that are going to condemn me to hell for not believing in god, for not celebrating this stolen holiday as the birth of christ. if i were gay, they'd love me all the same.

if you're preaching love and tolerance within an organization and you don't do that outside of that organization, you're just an asshole.

things to remember if you're catholic, or derived from it. A thousand years ago you jerks thought the universe, the galaxy, the sun... everything, revolved around the Earth. You're religion killed countless people in the name of conversion... of God, of Christ. You've enslaved, tortured, raped and killed thousands of men, women and children. You go to funerals of the dead men and women that protect your rights and curse, shout, spew filth from your mouth. You've led some of the greatest tragedies this world has seen.

all in the name of god. get off your high horse. relax... love your fellow man as well as an atheist does, you may just become enlightened by doing so.

but... doesn't the bible or something stat that the earth is what...4-5k years old? i think your parents are doing it wrong.

born agains are the worst with religion it seems... its like a need to push it down your throat because they've come to the realization that everything they knew was wrong and everything they did was a sin... so in retrospect, your as evil and horrible as they found themselves to be.

no offense to your parents of course. just a generalized statement

my cousin is like that with their kid. they pulled her out of public school after they first learned about evolution. now they homeschool here, and tell her everything she learned about science was wrong.
