yes sir. it needs to be bigger though. It's a 1.5 car garage and a single lane driveway... for three vehicles.

the plain is to eventually either build an extension on the back of it, or remove it altogether and build a multi car garage further back in the yard.

I was going to say, is it one of those real narrow garages that you can barely fit a car into?

i think we may be able to squeeze both cars in there if there is nothing else in the garage. it's narrow... but i think i run one of the cars in along the side and then angle it towards the other wall near the back then squeeze the other in... everyone is doubtful though lol

the parking is not ideal, and there is no street parking. so more than likely our front yard is gonna get torn up a bit from tires. we may rip some of that grass up and extend the driveway over. i'd hate to move into the front yard though

crappy pics are crappy... we'll have better once my gallery application is finished on my site...

Ken could you put like a little lot on the left side of the garage, like about 20x20 or somewhere around that big? Just for some extra parking but not tearing up into some of that grass on the other side.

the left side slopes down considerably. I would love to level that to the driveway and put in a retaining wall and asphault. We need to see how close we can build to the property line. If we could... we wouldnt need to move the garage and could build onto the left side of it.

I know at least with additions you have to have about 30 feet (around our way) from the edge of the addition to the property line. Don't know if that would be the same for paving.

our garage is probably less than 30ft from the line as is. perhaps b/c it is detached we can get away with extending it closer... we were told our fence is on the property line, but also heard that in other areas you need to be 15ft from your line.

i'm definitely going to have a survey done in the spring/summer and figure out the local laws

we considered that. but we like the opening between the garage and the yard. it will make it easier to move things back there should we need to... like construction equipment.

i want a sweet detached porch out by the maple w/ a fireplace or fire pit and built in grill

ah, had a feeling you would say that but I figured i'd just put it out there.

I like the firepit/grill idea.

the basement needs renovation. currently we're planning a small home gym, bar area, seating w/ two couchs and a tv and eventually a pool table and actual workout equipment... the floor is actually that garage floor enamel paint haha. i want to put a nice plush carpet down by the tv area
Congrats on your new purchase. I wish you and your girlfriend tons of happiness.

Ken, your house is identical to Keith's grandparent's house on Jay Street (Buck Hotel). His grandfather built those houses, not sure about the ones over where you are though.

Ken just offering up, but my parents have a Gazeebo?(sp) that you could probably have if you wanted to lug it your way. It has been sitting and they just put random things in there. It would make a nice little yard addition if you cleaned it up a bit. I will try and get a picture of it.

Well if that's true I'm ****ed ;) You haven't been to my house but it's a standard 4br colonial box. It has a 2 car garage with the door facing front. Just like Ken's properly but 2 car garage and the garage is attached and my garage is on the right side. I had several ideas.. One was to build a separate detached 3 car garage/workshop in the back right of the property (with a second in-law quarter floor) and run the driveway around and create a small parking area bck there as well. Another idea was to build an addition out over the back of the garage. Extend the garage back through, move the laundry room and create an enormous warehouse of a garage on the first floor and inlaw quarters on the second. Then my house would be kind of an L shape surrounding the pool. There'd be pool on one side and a bit of grass/trees on the other before the property line. I have lots of ideas, not enough money to make that happen. Those are like $60K ideas.

It's worth noting though that in my area in-law quarters are taboo and you're not supposed to have separate unconnected quarters. I think you're not allowd to have a second kitchen or something too. My neighbor down the street did it though... He (nice guy) built an entire second house for his daughter with a bastard child and missing father and just attached it to the current house. The only way to get from one is to go out the one entry door to the other. So I'm not too worried. Basically the township code inspector hates my neighbor who complains about everyone's lawn length so he will approve nearly anything that will piss him off. He even had the township guys come in and use township equipment and people to help me dig drainage trenches and connect up to the storm sewer. But yeah this is like 10-20 years in the future planning. Or we could just move too....
