Yeah but thats cool- if youre gonna cover a portion of your body, it doesnt HAVE to have meaning. It can just be art.

They say the first one is always the toughest. Ill think on it for years, finally get it, and three months later get something stupid and meaningless.

My other buddy has a tat in his armpit that just says "****." Cracks me up every time. His only tat... ****. hahaha

lol, jim i got mine because i truly respect the artists work, and i like pain a little. to me its a very expressive art and i was very honored to have him make me bleed for hours. all the tats ive thought up are the ones ive never gotten. when i go to sean i just ask him how we are filling the next space.

None of my tattoos are impulsive or not thought out, believe it or not. And seeing how I've waited over a year for some of them, they definitely are not rushed. The only one I had any doubt with was the pretzel, because my whole family hated it. I got over that right quick though.

And to answer Jim's question, mine have meaning, I suppose. There just isn't some sob story about how my mom was born in Philly, grew up enjoying the corner pee-pretzels and died of cancer.

I dont want to pretend that i am wise or know more or have a deep meaning behind my current tattoo or the next few. But it means something personal to me and i respect tattooing as an art form.

I know for sure that what would have been a single stand alone tattoo on my body at 19 years old would be meaningless to me. I still keep a picture of it to remind to to think twice before making a life long decision. Or a decision that will need to be covered up or lasered off.

Buster, i really respect the idea that you are using your body as a canvess for the artist to perform his/her work. It reminds me of times in history when an artist would be commissioned to do a work of art.

You are welcome. But, mine wasn't really an explanation. I really don't like when people grab my arm or whatever and say "So what does that mean or represent?" I personally don't feel like tattoos need to have this complicated meaning.

Look, I really, really like cupcakes. I really like skulls And I enjoy even more cupcakes with skull faces. So, **** yeah, I'm going to get that tattooed on me. Hahaha.

I know there are probably a lot more people who are going to not get, or like my tattoos then there are people who do like them. And that's okay with me. I get them for me and that's it.

I personally, if I ever had gotten a tattoo, would have to have meaning behind it. There are plenty of things I could get, that mean anything and everything to me, about me, and where I've come from. However, even they dont impact me enough to permanently imprint on me. Thats me personally.

However, I'm not one to judge why anyone got a specific tattoo, on the contrary though....I usually get baffled by some and just observe sheer stupidity in others. What you do, is what you do and your decision. In the same sense, theres a fine line in what you put on yourselves in the open and subject to others' view. Everyone is entitled to opinions, just like everyone is entitled to tattoos, but just like opinions and tattoos a like they can be astronomically retarded or worthwhile.

Thats not to be directed towards anyone posting currently in this thread........but among some TST members alike.

That makes sense to me... In fact I'd rather get a tattoo for that reason than because of any personal story attached to it.
