Its been done. Go onto youtube and search civette. Its not easy to do. some of the fabwork involves cutting out the flooring and making a driveshaft tunnel, making mounts for the rear diff.. Sometimes the dash needs to be pushed back (almost making it a 2 seater) so you tan do the longetutal engine swap and i think you have to do somthing with the steering rack as well... Its not easy and if she pulls it off a lot of people are going to be eating there words.

No problem. my sugestion would be the LS1. Ever since the newer LS's came out the LS1 prices fell through the floor... Another thing you might want to entertain is maby a northstar.

I think an LS6 would be total over kill. Not to mention worth more than the whole car is... I think an LS1 would do her just fine... Work it a little bit. Its certanley a capable motor.

crate motors are junk fyi over priced under powered, ls1 good motor and if someone puts ls1 and lt1 in the same group go jump off a bridge head first and also good luck with the swap

You would be a moron to spend $7k on that when you could build one up for way less.

How is the LS6 overkill... its an LS1 with slight differences, better heads, and a 'slightly' more agreeive cam. It isn't anything all that special.

Either way it doesn't matter because it won't happen when you can turbo a 4 banger and make decent power for much less

THIS. That's why I got my eye on this puppy instead of a v8.

Arielle, listen to jpalamar and I. Turbo would be waayyyy:
1. cheaper
2. easier
3. similar power levels and no crazy-****ty weight distribution.

The civette is not a LS swapped into a civic. Its a civic body on a corvette chassis.

Correction. It was a combination of the two chassis with an entire support system.

It also wasn't an EF chassis. It was an EK.

Meh, the biggest problems with "projects" like that, is they rapidly become useless, and boring, and its kind of frustrating when you put alot of work into somethign and it becomes a bear to drive and enjoy. Power to weight would be extreme, but the downside is that there will be no traction, due to the extreme low weight, and crappy tire fitment; plus ifs its a 1/4 mile only it will be a real handfull b/c of the short wheelbase.
Whoever suggested a northstar motor needs to get that idea out of their head real quick, those motors are a dumpster of trash pressed into a motor.
From experience, look to build something balanced chassis-wise and power-wise.

I wouldent say the northstar is a bad motor. They make around 300HP stock and a properley taken care of on will last 300K+ miles so long as you dont overheat it. They catch a bad rap because people dont take care of them but they are a seriousley undercredited motor.
