Best sti tuning in tristate?

yes i chose ryan at area1320 and we are set for saturday at 11am. i really hope everything goes well and i have much faith in ryan as i know he is the best.

i had my car tuned by ryan and i am happy with it and once he gets time and i get time to get down there to put my inlet on im sure i will be even happier.

I actually saw Ryan today to get a little thing done to my car and got to talk to him. I now might Utec it because he is very familiar with it. I was leaning towards an AP or ECUFlash. Right now it's tuned with Opensource.

I'm still up in the air about the Utec because he said it's a hyperterminal setup to view and change parameters.. and I prefer the easier/faster Excel style GUI look of tuning that the ECUFlash offers. We'll see I found used utec with map selector and bleeder valve for $215shipped.

I've been through all three solutions AP, open source, and now on a UTEC combined with open source for a few items (CEL related).

Honestly your not going to beat a UTEC combined with open source with anything other than a stand alone. Real time tuning ftw.

Best of all UTECs can be had for DIRT cheap, I've seen the older versions go for $150 on Nasioc.

yup thats what i should be running, a combination of utec and openscource scince the openscource reads all the knock correctly from the ecu, and its just the best combo you can have in my opinion. I have heard nothing but good words about it.
Unfortunatly i had to cancel the saturady app. due to issues im having unrelated to the car, but will let you guys know how it all goes out.

Why not just use Opensource all together? Is it because Utec is realtime programming unlike OS? Then why not just use ECUFlash which is both a utec and opensource basically all in one for less money and faster to use? ECUflash is free and tunable with a $165shipped tactrix cable(new), IF the tuner has the cable you don't need it unless you want to log and change things on your own. You might was well do ECUflash and save time, money with equal amount of tune-ability no?

*This is a straight question as I'm in the market for an EMS besides current opensource. I'm just assuming this.. as I'm not familiar with utec, opensource or ecuflash only what the products and tuners state.

ECUflash to my knowledge does not support real time tuning at this time. However if you arent tuning the car yourself real time tuning isnt anything the end user would worry about.

The UTEC's only benifits would be flat foot shifting, on the fly map selection, activation of 3rd party solenoids, and better knock detection.

The open source community has recently found ways to enable launch control for all years (I think). Speed density is only for 16 bit ecu's (02-03?).

as far as i know the only thing OS cant do is 32B Speed density and on the fly tuning and map switching

Knock correction was a concern of mine being that Learning view doesnt log all knock but we also have stand alone logging to Micro SD so i just keep that plugged in and keep the activation switch set DEFROST or 75% app that way at the end of the day alls i have to do is open the logs and scroll down to make sure that they all say 0 but i havent had hardly any knock since switching to E85

im currently running a Grainger EBCS with no problems so i dont know where the idea of not being able to use solenoids came from

i have also been running Tinywrx's LC/FFS patch for over a year now as well, never launch it but FFS is sure fun

I meant outside solenoids. Like say meth activation or an intercooler sprayer.

The evo guys have already figured out , map switching, speed density, fail safe for alkie and other goodies such as inter cooler sprayers all on the stock ecu, so i am sure its coming for subies soon.

i would have to say IAG in maryland. I drove down there from philly to get my car tuned. They fly in Jorge Carillo (riftswrx) once a month to get him to tune. One of the best in the country.

I would recommend 100%, Ray at Turbotektuning . That is my opinion. He is the only person who ever touched a car of mine and ever will, Other then myself. I've done high dollar transactions with him aswell, Without even knowing him other then tuning my car when I first did basic bolt ons and a bolt on bb 30r. Not only that. He spent a whole morning/day on valentines day pulling his car completly apart, To let me make the trip to his location to pick everything up. sure, It's not a big holiday to some, But it says alot that he made time for me on a holiday weekend.

So, With that said..... He would be the only one I'd ever spend my cash with, When it hasto do with subaru's. I am sure there are definatly other great places out there, But the first impression when you meet a shop/person/ETC, Is a lasting impression that makes or breaks the future business with that person.

If you want to stay more local I'd go with Ryan (Area1320) over Ray. I've heard good things about precision tuning as well.
