I'll add to the mix here...

Here's me as I was doing some backpacking in Japan last year. I look like a super dork but whatever, it was an awesome trip.

November 2009 on the island of Miyajima next to the iconic Floating Torii. When the tide was higher I took some nice photos of it in the water, but when goes out you can walk up to it which I did a couple hours later. I met these two awesome Japanese students on the island who took me to Hiroshima after this and gave me a tour along with one of their family members who was a city councilman in Hiroshima. Pretty much everyone in Japan was so incredibly friendly and hospitable, I loved it.

The joke probably would have been funnier than what you just posted, which isn't saying much
I was carrying around a 25 lb. backpack for 3 weeks every single day nonstop. If you've ever had to do something like that you know that you could care less what you look like, you're just trying to get through it. If I were to do it again, I'd definitely go a lot more minimalist on the camera gear and shed a lot of weight that way.
