I agree with what has been said, there is alot of open space that needs to be filled. The colors, look so boring. in print i can see it working, its just not working online.

the changes look good and you are heading in the right direction.

if you have adobe photoshop, create an action for resizing the images, it will save you hours of time. (assuming they will all be the same height or width) or as i mentioned before, download jalbum, even if you don't use the web gallery it creates, it will re-size and create thumbnails for you in a batch must faster than adobe photoshop will or bridge. you can control the size and quality. spend 10 minutes and and try it. although if you want each image to be a different size. then manually is the only way to go.

Some other thoughts i had, don't take it the wrong way.

Your nav, i would inverse the sizing. make the buttons small in the "in-active" state and then make them large when they are "active". Have them grow as you roll over, and be large when your on the page.

everything is center justified? there are much more appealing layouts. think about what types of layouts people read every day, like newspapers, documents, etc etc people like to read in smallish column chuncks, usually justified in some way, it's easy on the eyes, people don't want to scan all the way across the screen to read a sentence. Also most center content that is center justified are invitations, some times cards, etc etc. so you just need to try and follow the norm and format things how people kind of expect them to be. kind of lame, but humans are creatures of habit.

for instance the cards page would look nice if the text was left justified (with proper padding) and there were sample images laid out like on the home page but vertical.

contact form needs a more professional font, and a smaller border, the beveled border is really dated.

Was that color scheme dictated to you? I would really change it, it's just not a good color for the web, i hope you don't mind but i edited the header, just did a simple adjustment with the color balance to make it a bit more appealing, at least to me.

well I hope that helps a bit.

YIKES!

sorry man but the design of the site dosen't make me think you (i guess by you i mean the g/f?)know what your doing....no offense, im a graphic designer myself and we all start somewhere i wish i could find my first site..whoa!)

what i would do is cruise the interwebs and check out trends and up-to-date looks and go off that (shoot even if you see something and you take it and modify it to make it your own).

I understand that you want to sell the idea that you want to create affordable sites for people ..but i think your site should be eye-catching and lead me to believe that you can do better than some kid in 8th grade with a copy of iWeb on their parent's macbook..

if you need help, PM me and i can guide you.

if you want to see what ive done, check out these sites:
www.twiztidkid.com - redesigned in march
www.area1320.com
www.rutlerscreenprinting.com (really old..and hasnt been finished since i worked there in 05)

thats about it...

what i do now is work for an ad agency (www.midnightoilcreative.com) in Burbank, CA designing collateral (ads, displays, packaging, etc) for Activision (yes the game publisher)

yea im sure you will :-) again i wish i could find my stuff before i went to art school..lol

i use Dreamweaver/flash (if needed) to do my sites. (for my personal site this time around, i've cheated*..shh)

i usually start my laying out ideas in PS; and once ive decided, i go into coding the site and making it work

*i decided to "cheat" this time around because i'm a pretty busy guy these days. i needed a solution to help me keep my site up-to-date and more dynamic than my previous "from scratch" versions and make it easier to update and create new content in a minimal amount of time.

PS - tell your G/F that pink and borwn only works for cupcake companies..lol (its a dangerous combination for websites cuz if its not right..you end up with an ugly/boring looking page.)

heres a link to a color wheel..to help you with primary, complimentary and tertiary colors :-)

http://kuler.adobe.com/#create/fromacolor

it even provides cool "themes" of colors its pretty handy to have when doing something design wise

um...im going to try to decipher this..lol

i actually start doing sites when all you had was HTML. so i've been coding HTML since 1995. i kinda picked up flash when it was "hot" with flash 4 and kinda tried to keep myself up to date with books. I then got some books on Javascript and CSS and it all goes from there

i bought a TON of books in my 15 years of doing this. they are expensive but extremely valuable to bettering your skills. (im doing the same with my photography these days). If you cant afford the books..theres a TON of online tutorials that walk you thru doing whatever it is you need to do..

Knowing the software is KEY, but the more important trait to being a good designer is having an "eye" for what looks good and knowing what people want. then PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

ive got a ton of photographer buddies that know how to operate the cameras, lights, etc..but cant create a good photo to save their lives...(im not saying im an awesome photographer by any means..im learning tho...and i practice daily..so maybe ill be awesome one day..lol)

im not sure what youre asking me right here..

things i would change....you cant read the "designs" part of the logo - id choose a different font. or try to create a different logo.

and seriously that color scheme needs to go. if it has to be pink n brown, darken the brown and brighten the pink..and try to add a cream or white in there for accent. and dump that green..yuck
