dont you remember how they reacted over the dutch political cartoon tha thad muhammed drawn? there were riots. Then the guy who helped make a documentary about how the muslim religion tells people to treat women was killed by extremists and beheaded for speaking out against them

Yeah, Theo Van Gogh was shot like 8 times, stabbed, and had his throat slit, the guy tried to behead him but didnt. They found 2 knives in his torso, one with a note. All this happen in the middle of a busy city (Amsterdam)for a film that was 12 min long and seen by a fraction of as many people as South Park. You never know what people are capable of

^ok lets say you are right, do christians threaten death and violence? do they actually carry it out? many movies have said comments against religion and jesus has been mocked or portrayed in non religious ways but christians dont send death threats. When keven smith filmed dogma he was not threatened, did people boycott or protest? sure but nobody threatened to kill him. If that is how the muslim religion reacts then maybe we should begin to question if it is something that is acceptable

south park is known, and always has been, for their political and entertainment shock value. Just because we pissed off people across the world, does not mean it should not be banned or censored here. Granted, yes, these are dangerous people, not protestors, but i still cannot justify an extremist muslim group targeting 2 producers of a cartoon. I feel like that just is not up on their priority list. If i had some leader approach me in a group and say, we will be threatening this person and this person because they mocked our god in the US via cartoon, id be pissed, but no way would i devote effort to do that.

I know im not a muslim extremist, so i dont think like that at all. I just cant see this being real. i still think comedy central has something to do with it. How come nothing like this came out of the saddam episodes?

But what do you want America to do? Ban Muslim beliefs in America?

As for the "threats," technically I think the group that said something about it just "reminded" the creators of what happened to Theo Van Gogh.. I don't think they actually made an outright threat. It was technically more like a warning.

And yes, actually, I have heard of Christians that threaten death and violence. Some even act on it. Christian extremists exist in this country and all over the world. They act out in violence and call it "justified" because of their interpretation of religion. Ever hear of the Army of God? The Klu Klux Klan? Hutaree? A bunch of those attacks on abortion doctors... Christian extremists.

I don't know about attacks over movies or depictions of Jesus but I'm sure it has been done on an individual basis.

And oh my goodness, you're very wrong about Dogma and Kevin Smith. He received hundreds of thousands of pieces of hate mail and said himself that two-thirds of it were death threats. Disney was so intimidated by the outcry of Christians that they sold the rights to distribute the movie to another company.

Saddam isnt a religious figure. It also isnt considered blasphemous to show Saddam's face like it is to show a depiction of Muhammed.
