I sold my Jeep wheels/tires to some dude in Northern CT area for a price that included delivery. So I figured I would make a good day trip out of it and take my ol' man with me (75 years old/mostly blind) and drop him off at his sister's place in Burlington,CT for the day while I do my wheel transaction. So, yesterday, I loaded up the van, picked up Pops' and off we went.

Now for the point of the story....

I roll up to the toll booth at the Tappan Zee bridge. $4 toll. I hand the woman a $20 and she said 'that'l be $12'. me>

I said(after picking my jaw up from the ground) ' I'm only a 5,000 lb GVWR, single wheel/axle'.

She said 'it is over 7 feet high'

I said 'what does vehicle height have to do with tolls??? It is supposed to be based on amount of weight and tires/axle combo.'

She shrugged her shoulders and asked if I wanted a receipt. I said Hell Yeh!

Can anyone come up with a rational explanation for this?? WTF! I feel so violated!

She needed money to pay her bills so she jacked some extra cash from you.
