deafening sounds anyone?

So last weekend I shot some clay pigeons with a 12 guage... ears weren't ringing or anything. Shot my .357 a few times. Still fine. Ears didnt ring. But then my step dad gave me a .44. First time I ever shot one. Shot it once and my left ear has been ringing and I half like half hearing n it. Called the dr. He said to wait it out n see what happens. Its been 7 days and its still ringing and everything sounds muffled in my left ear.

Anyone ever have this happen?

I wouldn't know, I use hearing protection.... sounds like you should too. And yes, ringing in the ear means damage has occurred, so good luck with that.

I wasn't looking for preventon to something that happened in the past. I was asking if anyone has had this problem and whether or not it got better. Doctor said it can go away over time.

I just didn't have ear plugs on because to me.. the 12g isnt very loud. And shot those for years without any issues. Worst part is I only shot the .44once

What you think is not loud, still is damaging your ears... Your ears don't have to feel like they are bleeding, for them to be damaged. Just listening to loud music in the car can damage your ears, and kids who blast their ipod through their ear phones, are damaging their ears.

If the doctor said wait it out, than wait it out... How long someones elses ear rang, has no influence on how long yours might.

Can't speak for the others but mine was not a pissy comment in the least.

yeah man you gotta be careful.

I never wore ear plugs in the club, at shows, playing the drums, etc and over the past year or 2, I have slowly been noticing that people say "do you hear that?" and I can't.... lol

its a serious concern. def see the doctor.

Yea man, it really sucks. like i always understood wearing ear protection in shooting ranges and where there is constant really loud noise bt, this one event that i didnt think much of could affect me the rest of my life. sucks because im only 20 but i guess at the same time... i did it to myself and i can only do things in the future to make sure it doesn't get any worse.
