DREAM CAR SHOW / MEET Questions / Poll

OK many of you know me and my background in the Industry. I am working for a large organization and would like some grassroots opinions. We have all been to the typical car show events as in NOPI, HIN and all the played out normal stuff. I would like peoples opinion on what they would like to see in an event. We wont even call it a show. Do we want a judged show or more of a laid back cruise in style event. Do we want bands or a DJ or none of that. Do we want seminars on how to really do things such as stereo, engine tuning, etc... or is that too boring. Are we into track driving and learning how to really handle and drive our cars or is that wishful thinking. What in a perfect show would you expect. What makes you want to drive to an event.

+1 on 300ZX's ideas.

I like the "cruise in and out whenever you want" sort of ordeal. It'd be nice to get some sort of backing from some companies in the industry to have some sort of giant get together.

The Sonic meet (although I haven't been to it yet) is definitely a good idea. Somewhere where we can all meet and get food if some people are hungry and a big enough place where everyone can be in somewhat of the same place.

Cruise to a locations that would host a show. Cars at the show would consist of all flavors, imports, exotics, muscle cars (old and new). And there should be like an air strip or something where people could show off to everyone and we could all hear and appreciate the cars. it should be a chill scene with music, food, and a bikini contest. deff some sorts of judging for cars there too.

yeah i like the idea of a judged and non judged area of the show, also a plece to get silly like an airstrip would be fun

dyno wars, bikini contest

seminars would be cool too, but only if it was a two day event so you would have time to learn something without missing out on the excitement

I'm in for seminars. Latest technology seminars(audio/video vendors), 'how to' seminars (I'm sure the most experienced tuner would pick up a tip), detailing seminars (latest products from vendors), and how about judging cars in a bracket format (head to head)..the ncaa basketball tourney.

DJ is cheap, but even better if you bring in a radio station to do onsite brodcasting...free advertising for your show.

Just a few quick brainstorm thoughts...

Definitely the airstrip idea would be a good idea.......almost like in the Fast and the Furious. Yes thats a bad reference but its a good idea.....

We could all kinda meet up around a hangar and then maybe keep a runway open for some race action. Good luck finding an airport that would accomodate a bunch of gearheads for a day though.....keep my fingers crossed.

I should realy be asleep. Lol

Nothing beats the rolex vintage car festival. Don't expect ya to pull that off but by far the best event of the year. Amls at limerock is second.

Scda puts on the best track days. Small groups and 30 min sessions 4 to 5 times in one day.

Another type of event I really like are the poker runs. Illegal so probaly hard to pull off.

Anything with cruise in the title I will automatically avoid.

We have a porsche event in hershey in a few weeks. Setup with hotel and rented bbq truck. Friday night drinking at hotel saturday is a swap meet and sunday is autox.

The airport events sound really cool but unless you have a car that can do over 200mph then its not as exciting as you might think. There is one coming up in miami but my porsche tops out at 170mph so why bother.

Seminar would be cool. If you can get a shop with a mobile dyno and run a couple seminars on simple tuning techniques would be cool. Get a couple different cars from mild bolt ons to full high hp turbo set up.

a cruise to different locations is cool. We used to do this on our motorcycles like a poker run.

I really like that head to head bracket thing. Like randomly pick the bracket and then the cars move on etc. that would be pretty awsome i think.

maybe people could bet on them too :D

That would be very cool. I have to do some tuning on my haltech and I haven't got a clue. Running rich below 3000rpm so I figure I can at least figure that out. Note to self-save the original tune before you **** with it.

Ive been out to the concours on Pebble beach a few times and the Concorso Italiano is the closest Ive come to my ideal show. They had it at an airport a few years ago, and everyone was hoping an open runway would be open for showing off but sadly it wasn't. However, there is a tradition at that show where people all go and crowd around the exit and people leaving the show show off. (not legally, but what are the cops really gonna do lol) But thats why having an open strip of road to let people do this on would be ideal.

O.P. if u really are putting something together, this would be a great thing to include. looking at cars is great, but hearing and seeing them in action is legit the stuff everyone really wants to see. we just dont like it at meets cuz the cops get called.

I think a Cruise WITH the option for the track would be great. Like if it was at NJMP since their parking lots are huge, you can setup a "show" in the lot, but at the same time have track driving going on to keep people busy both watching and driving, as well as looking at the cars in the lot. That's the epitome of my perfect car/vehicle meet.
