the way it works in new york (as the officer explained it to me) the back window can be whatever you want, spraypaint it for all they care as long as you have two side mirrors and a rearview mirror (kind of contradicting,) but either way yeah i know 5% is way too dark and i did know that putting it on the car, in my defense, im 18years old and completely invincible when it comes to the law, I just know it looks ****ing awesome on the car. The ticket i was given is not a warning though its an actually written ticket, and the way it works in NY is you send in the ticket that you are issued, plead guilty or not guilty, and they send you the fine back or whatever else you might need to do. i just dont feel like putting another five hours into retinting my windows, and paying for the tint and yada yada yada. i just ****ing hate cops and the bull**** fines/laws they come up with that serve to protect us. but like I said, im 18 and know everything/

that being said i was looking into this on google and other forums, i came across an article that said if you get a written tint ticket and fail to take your tint off, whether issued a fix-it ticket or not, you face up to 30 days in prison! i have no idea if this is correct or not, assuming its not, but either way that is nuts.

sorry to hear about your ticket. get it retinted at 30%+

20% was too dark for me in my MR2 to back up into a dark driveway lol... even with floodlights.

How can you even see out your windows at night with 5%? Just because it looks cool does not mean it's a good idea. I'd pull it off, thus beating the ticket after showing your local LEO, and retint at 30% or so.

I ****ing hate cops to but it's a totally reasonable law put in place for their safety. You put the darkest tint you could on every window of your car knowing it was illegal and got a ticket. Cry about it.

im not crying at all, i just asked if anyone knew how much the fine was, and DPancoast, i think thats exactly what im going to do. It's just going to be hard to part with the fact that i can drive completly naked and no one can see me in the middle of the day, but yeah you cant see ANYTHING at night.

i got followed off of I-195 for tint by a state trooper. literally 4 miles off the exit. i guess he was that bored

5% how much crack do you deal? 30% is indeed the sweet spot; I like 25% on some lighter colored cars.

yeah man its ridiculous, i was pulling out of a tattoo shop onto rt. 11 and he had someone in an escalade pulled over, with some dark ass tint, so im assuming thats what he was issueing a ticket for, i went to cvs and came back down past the cop again he followed me like four cars back and i noticed so i turned onto a side street and just gunned it trying to dip out and he did the same and caught up to me and got me, it was definatly sweet of him. maybe if i forge a doctors note that says i have milonoma they'll let me keep it? what do you think?

i seen a s13 the other day, red with white wheels that had NO tint at all. the entire car was as clean as the front window. it actually looked really good for a change =)
