Dealer but would actually prefer a private sale, we're trying to find the right one. We want to pay around $15K. We found one for $21K that we would have jumped on but it has a deposit on it. An 04 with 5,000 miles (yes!) I'd really love an 04-05 with low miles blue on gold bbs's.

EDIT: This is no longer urgent because I figured out how to get the 3000gt to obey and I stopped driving 3000gt except for snowy **** and got the m3 out in the salt

Wow, just 4,000 miles. That car is cream puff.

I started using an accountant to do my taxes because no matter which software i used i needed the advice of a pro. For example i didn't think i could claim my parents as dependants until it was explained to me. He then refiled prior years returns to adjust my return.

if the promotion i was told i was getting ever goes through (once the corporate management bull**** ends) and my raise hits i'm probably gonna go looking for an 07 forester sport xt for DD duty. personally... i'm going to seek out something with high mileage to keep the price down.

i'd probably make everyone on here cry because i'd more than likely raise it a little tiny bit and put some good all-season/off road tires on it

If you come up with a price though we'll entertain it. Basically I have to keep this car cheap enough that certain significant others don't decide I don't need to turbocharge the m3. We wouldn't want that.

I could rock that. I wonder how much more boring a wrx is than an STi.

I did test drive a brand new 08 wrx and it was dog slow but it may have been because it had like 5 miles on it. But from my understanding the non-sti has 3 open diffs, weaker trans, weaker rings and some other deficiencies.

i am not ready to sell my car. if i was i would certainly let you review everything and come up with a price together. that way we would both be happy and not have hard feelings afterwards. plus i dont know if what i want in the future. i really really would like an M3 but i am so scattered right now that i am not sure what i want to do.

i would not cry, hell i might follow your lead and do the same exact thing. i actually started researching what parts are involved in setting up a street legal rally car. get an awd car, mod the suspension to be able to raise and drop it according to the road conditions. this winter has taught me 1 thing. i dont like the feeling of being trapped in my home because its snowing outside.

same here... i want to be able to get out.

sadly, the foresters i'm interested in are still around 20k. i'd like to see something to 10ish. i wonder if anyone makes kits to raise the ride height of a subaru... everyone wants to lower them.

It's more about what the car is worth than anything. My main interest is making an attempt to find one that was allowed to fully warm up every time before being thrashed on. That's the one and only way I am careful and it's how my cars last so long. Otherwise I don't care how it was driven really. But you can never really trust anyone to be telling the truth about that.

there's definitely a risk of the wrx trans breaking if you beat on it, but if you dont beat on it then its unlikely it will just grenade on is own unless you're at substantially higher power than stock.
differences between wrx and sti are trans is 5 speed instead of 6, and weaker. suspension and brakes, engine displacement and power, turbo size, injector size, catback, wheels/tires, and i dont know what else. the wrx has a LSD in the rear but an open front... not sure about the center? STi has LSD rear, center, and front.

But say you can get an 04-05 wrx f or 6g's when a 04-05 sti would be 10-11,is it worth it?

then i would say that the STi is not worth the extra money.

Ravage it like a las vegas whore.. err i mean drive it peacefully to work and back. I think I'll be springing for an STi. Too many unknowns to know for sure I won't want to mod it and make even more power down the road.
