so I have a few questions... im not trying to be negative... just trying to understand things:

1) have there been any decisions on what will be raffled off? might help your chances to get people started on wanting said items now to get that much more money
2) what was the criteria for picking Make A Wish... from what I know its an ok foundation but who picked it and why?
3) with that said, does Make A Wish know about this meet? Are they sending a rep to accept the money? or is someone going to give them the money as a regular donation afterward?
4) other than the raffle prizes... what are the sponsors sponsoring? lol... I just feel like having "sponsors" isn't needed. Just have the members of the community bring the stuff and raffle it off.

I dunno... call me a broken record since it's been discussed earlier in the thread but I just dont see the point of posting a name all over this and the answers I'm looking for aren't very clear thus far.

To be completely honest, when I opened this thread originally for the first time, I expected to see an entrance fee... doesn't have a meet feel to it, that's for sure.

And as a disclaimer... I am in no way questioning anyone's integrity. I understand that the meet is 3 months away and details may not be solidified or sorted and it's pretty early to make them available. But there's a lot of info missing that I would like to know about. I also understand there is a lot of behind the scenes that I probably don't know about that answers my questions. But I feel my questions pertain to things a lot of people are questioning.

Hey Dan, good questions... I have most of the answers for you...

1)The raffles are still being solidified and I don't want to lock into anything, but we're working on finalizing things like: window tinting, dyno pulls, performance alignments, car parts, tickets to shows/go karting/etc, and more. This is not an official list! Just wanted to give you an idea of what we've got in the works currently, and of course there's plenty of time to get more. We will announce officially what you can look forward to ahead of time so you can get excited for it.

2) We made a list of potential charities, narrowed it down to a few, and then researched each more fully. After talking with MAW we had a really good feel about them and think what they do is really great. We're working with a regional division of MAW so the money will stay local which is something I really wanted to do.

3) We have been working closely with a representative from MAW and she has been incredibly helpful. We've also been working closely with Sonic as well, and they have also been really helpful. Everyone has been great and everyone is really looking forward to the event. I am not sure if the rep from MAW will be attending the meet but its a possibility right now. I had planned to gather all the money after the event, organize the numbers, and then send it to them.

4) The sponsors have made very generous 'sponsor level' donations to the charity. It is an excellent way for us to raise money and have the most successful event possible. Many of the sponsors we contacted were really excited to get involved in one way or another, which is more than we could have asked for. Again I don't want to announce anything officially this early on, but we have raised well north of $2,000 already! Thats more than I had originally hoped to raise in total, and we're still so early in the game. This does not include the value of any items donated for raffles either. Pretty amazing...
We definitely would not be able to accomplish what we are without reaching out to sponsors, and have been mindful to not compromise the quality of the meet itself in doing so.

I think Bryan did a pretty good job summing it up. We had a few charities in mind like he said, but wanted to focus on something in our region. Believe it or not there are more than hundreds of charities just in the area - its very difficult to focus on one but Make-A-Wish is a great thing because it hosts a family in doing something they otherwise wouldn't be able to do. Without our sponsors we wouldn't be able to contribute to our cause. I am really happy that the people involved stepped up to contribute - it's more than I expected and it's a great thing to see people do. Again you will notice on our flyer and I don't think Bryan or I could say it enough but all proceeds and donations go to MAW 100% - everything we've been able to setup has been with the sole contribution of those involved. It should really be an awesome meet - we've got great response from the TST community, BMW community, VW community, etc. - it should be a blast!

Dan, MAW is aware of the event for sure - there's a lot of formality in holding something for a charity. We're not sure if they'll be out just yet as its still 80+ days out, but you can see that they are planning for it:

Thanks guys. Can't say enough that I wasn't trying to be sour, and I'm not trying to knock any of the planning/work that's going into the event behind the scenes. I love this meet and am thankful it continues to happen. But with some rumors and things I heard/continue to hear since I've joined this site, I had to ask lol. Wasn't really doubting anything but it's just how I am because I like to know stuff. No need to discuss anything further here because this is about the meet.

Obviously I was misinformed when I typed my questions and I thank you guys for the answers. Glad to see we as a community are able to make a difference somewhere. I'm already excited for the raffles because I know how the vendors on here work and it never disappoints lol.

Anyway. Back to being excited. On the topic of people, a lot of the PA/NY/NJ MR2 guys are talking about coming... hopefully they don't back out like last year lol.
