i'm glad they are finally putting the 6spd in the GT, and the motor seems ready fot a power adder. Honestly with the number it is making, Ford is going to have problems marketing the GT500... with bolt ons this car should be just as fast. Add a power adder and its over. the GT500 looks BA but this car will look awesome with some lowered with some wheels.

I think the rumors for the GT500 right now are that its getting twins put on it.

that doesn't make sense though. i don't think there is enough space in the engine bay w/ the current 5.4l for twin turbos.

though, it would help the car w/ launching. as it is it can't hold the power down w/ the s/c

looks like we're not getting a "cheap" boss factory option

http://mustangforums.com/forum/2010-...s-mustang.html

i wonder if we'll see a smaller performance of visual package for the GT though.

that would be ridiculous. the car is already over priced... could you imagine it with rear mounted intercooled turbos? i'm betting on a better fuel system and more boost

Overprices is the truth. LS3 Vettes are less then the GT500s. I do like the look of the GT500 alot though. It just goes together so well.

eh, they're really not that heavy. muscle cars aren't light 4 cylinder imports or finesse cars. they never were and never will be. they're mid sized rwd v8 vehicles.

mine, with me, weighed in at 3720lbs. yeah... about 800lbs heavier than my srt. but one is a smaller economy car and the other is a mid-size muscle car. and hell, the mustang is still lighter than its competition

True true it is not meant to be a light economy car,but then those same economy cars can come out with the same hp to weight ratio with ease.

oh def.

my srt, tuned , would be faster than my mustang w/ the 20ish less whp it would have. the stock gt is only good for mid 13's. the new gt w/ the 5.0 is estimated low 13's high 12's. and by high i mean 12.9. at least thats what i've read.

i'm not sure how it handles comparatively though... but i seem to remember reading that the 2010 did better at something than a specific year m3. now, i could be completely wrong about that... but i can't find the source right now to back that up...

Wow that is awsome the 5.0 is back! I'd be pissed if I bought a 2010 though. I also heard the V-6 stang is going to have 300+ hp now.

I saw this video of the new 5.0 driving:

305 hp

and i'm not pissed at all ;)

brand new drivetrain... we're going to see all the issues come out this coming year and OTHER people will have to deal with something breaking and finding the limits of the motor.

meanwhile, i get to sit back and relax... see what happens and how things play out. in 3-4 years i can trade in if i want to... or... i'm sure we'll be seeing the drivetrain for sale from wrecks

I would never buy a 1st gen version... Let others find out the hard way then reap the benifits down the road.

It is, but the LS1 has been arround since like 1998 and the T-56 trans has been arround a long time too.... so the important stuff is proven technology

Plus the GTO (Holden Monaro) as been out since 2002 itself

first gen drivetrains are what we're discussing.

i've got the "first gen" for this style mustang. but the engine and trans have been around for years already.
