I bought them by piece. I think $70 for that setup right there.

I'm returning my radio triggers. I forget the brand I'm buying now, but they are supposed to rival the Pocket Wizard triggers at a lower price. The set also includes adaptors. All for $200 (1 transmitter, 1 receiver, and the adaptor, and some other cords that I dunno about).

$70 isnt bad at all. I just bought a umbrella off B&H, I just need to find the rest of the equipment.

Let me know how whatever transmitter you buy works out for you, definitely looking into buying some new toys.

I'd be interested in knowing which ones you purchased. Cactus? Seculine?

The Cybersync TX and RX and adapter are just about $150 before shipping and it includes everything you would need.
Alienbees, is quite a reputable company as far as strobe equipment goes.

CyberSync™ Trigger Transmitter
$59.95

CyberSync™ Battery-Powered Trigger Receiver
$69.95

Flash Zebra
Item #0128 Female Hotshoe with Miniphone Jack (female)
Price: $16.50 + shipping

Basic umbrella setup;
6' stand, $20. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...nd_Black_.html
umbrella bracket, $16. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...cket_with.html
~32" umbrella, either shoot-thru, $10; http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc....html#features
or reflecting, $15; http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Umbrella.html

So that's max fifty bucks. Fujito, your umbrella looks bigger so that might account for the price difference.

I think the best bang-for-buck ebay triggers are called the RF-602s and are like $45 for a trigger/receiver, $20 for each additional trigger. Unless you're doing stuff where you need a thousand percent reliability or want TTL, no need for the more expensive stuff. I'll be getting the Radiopoppers eventually, but Nikon CLS has suited me just fine.

I was going to get a silver umbrella, but the salesman recommended that I get this one instead. This umbrella has the white cloth with a black outside. The black outside can be removed and the umbrella can act as a softbox. He said that the silver umbrella has has harsh highlights and it requires good makeup to avoid such (grease spots).

Not true. Here's a shot using a silver reflective umbrella.
