Where's The NASCAR Fans?

Just wondering who on this board is a NASCAR fan. I love watching it and it is to me more than just driving around in a circle for hours. I would like to see who else is a fan of NASCAR and wouldn't mind discussing it at all. I watched the Budweiser Shootout this afternoon and what a race it was. If that is a preview of what the Daytona 500 is going to be like then it is going to be an amazing race. And Denny Hamlin was amazing tonight. He didn't look like a rookie at all.

Yes there is talk about Toyota coming into the mix next year. I don't know if they are replacing one of the other manufacturers but it's like them putting the Toyota Tundra in the Truck Series.

I was flipping through the channels last night and came across some canadien nascar (cascar is it?). Watched for about 2 1/2 mins and flipped it off. I have officially filled my quota of cars going around and around in circles for the year! YAY!

I stick with WRC. I get bored watching identical cars drive in circles.

The Duck, the Bud Shootout was definetly a good race especially with the last 10 laps of it. Kyle Busch was racing real crazy and was making risks that he didn't need to make. Tony Stewart said it was too crazy out there and that theres going to be another Dale Earnhardt accident out there and he just hopes hes not in it when it happens. I definetly don't want that to happen. I am watching Sportscenter this morning and they are talking about the Dale Earnhardt incident which I hate remembering. For any NASCAR fan that was tragic and was known like any other great sports star. RIP Dale.

I'm sorry, but I can't really get into NASCAR. It doesn't really appeal to me. I like more technical racing like F1 or WRC. I'm not disrespecting NASCAR or your opinion, but I just don't like it. But, NASCAR has become more popular than Football in America.

If you ever get a chance check out a F1 race on Speed. Most of the NASCAR Mechanics watch F1 when they're not working on cars race weekends. The first race of the season is in 26 days (www.F1.com). In my opinion, Soccer and F1 are the most popular sports in the world. F1 is amazing. They are always pushing the envelope. It is not uncommon for a team to change a part of the car (new suspension, transmission, aero) half way through the season to gain that edge.

WRC is also an awesome race to see. It's Man and Machine Vs. the clock. The skill the drivers have in snow, gravel, and tarmac is just amazing.

I agree with all the above statements, because I too love all forms of motorsports. I just have to add comments to the popularity of Nascar:

-fastest growing spectator sport in America: you can't touch Shaq/or even come close to Derek Jeter, but you can get pit passes to the teams/garage area-smell the rubber and fuel. (Heck, I even got close enough to Jarrett once race he finished 5th and he almost spit on me & I hung out with the 88 crew during some of the race.)
-these racers are humble people since they know they can't do what they love unless there is major $ sponsorship; major league sports icons IMO-not humble
-3600 lb machine, 800+ hP, 4 gears, and about 42 other dudes that all want the same thing - finish line first!
-they race on weekends (almost every Sunday-36 races) for the fans

F1-cutting edge auto technology & physics, fantastic racing, reaction time measured in thousandths; BIG BUDGET sport-to also include spectators

Rally-fun to watch, amazing geography/landscape, some of the best car control skills to witness behind the wheel

BTCC, DTM, Aussie V8, SCCA - are also fun series that are great to watch

You have your own opinion which is fine. Duck though, you are forgetting how much they are dying in the seat of one of those cars being like 140 degrees haha. These guys give it all they have every weekend when you know there are a lot of sports stars out there that don't try their hardest all the time. These guys put their lives on the line for the fans of Amaerica. I can honestly say I cried when Earnhardt died, since he was a big part of the sport.

woid.
I spent three months in Italy, Germany and Austria. F1 is HUUUUUGE there. Soccer and F1 IS the most popular sports there. I went to the Ferrai HQ in Modena and the Ferrari flagship store in Milian, its like a religion there. (Actually, I'm sporting my F2005 F1 schedule shirt under my BDUs today)
Anypoop, I've to two Indy 500s, one F1 USGP in Indy and a NASCAR race in Dover, Delaware. Indy 500 was cool because its the Indy 500. The F1 was the best race I've ever seen. As far as the NASCAR race............it was so bad I fell asleep during the race. The track is so small, after a few laps everyone is all mixed together and its impossible to be in the stands and know the leaders. Well, unless you get the radio headsets and be superduper fan. At the F1 race, people were cheesecake, pounding Foster's and drinking Martinis. At the NASCAR race, people were eating corndogs, pounding whatever beer had a logo on their favorite driver's car and saying "Git-r-done" like 10 million times.

You are right. Again, all for the love of racing. They do what they know/love to do best-and work hard every weekend for the fans & sponsors.
