Deer/Hit and run accident

So Im driving rt.29 and there is that really sharp turn where it has to be taken with no more than 25mph cuz theres a cliff on the other side. And im driving and minding my own business and right after the turn there that straight and that car comes down the road and the last thing i saw was how a deer bounces off his front bumper and lands on my windshield.
Im ok just a little shocked and have a headache cuz the the rear view mirror hit me on the head. Im all covered in glass and Im really pissed off cuz the guy didnt even stop. Police came, printed out a report and escorted me to my house.
Thats my first accident ever, and Ive been driving for 13 years. I dont know what to do now - I only have a liability and IDK if should file a claim or not.

Damage took the windshield, hood, roof and side mirror.

I dont have another car and I cant go anywhere.

Damn that sucks. Did you get a description of the car? I'm sure that there aren't many cars around that just hit a deer.

story sounds kind of weird. i mean, it's not like the guy that originally hit the deer did anything wrong. it is not like he would be charged with a crime because he hit a deer and it bounced off his car and hit yours. but it is kind of odd that he hit a deer and didn't stop. are you sure the other car hit it? maybe it jumped in front of the other car but the car didn't hit it, and it just so happens you hit the deer?

The deer came from the other side of the road. If i hit it would have done some damage to my bumper and front end. the damage is more like it landed on my hood. I heard a bang before it landed on my windshield.

but thanks for the supprt

Deers do jump across roads all the time. Liek stated above it may not have hit the car, just may have jumped out of that cars way and landed on you car. It sucks and deer are crazy around this time of the year. Bucks are chasing does all over the place, its baby makin time. I would file a report, just incase. Best of luck sir, call you insurance company they may see it as an act of god and cover some of the work, but you better make sure that there is no deer crossing signs casue then ur effed with insurance

Understand that it's totally possible that the driver of the other car didn't see the deer hit your car. Either way, you're not going to get anything out of it, the driver wasn't required to stop because they didn't directly hit you.

****ty situation, I know how you feel. Been there before.

Did the deer get up and take off or did someone throw a deer carcass at you and flee the scene?

If a deer can jump a 10' fence, I'm pretty sure they have no problem clearing your hood/bumper. It was probably jumping out of the way of the other vehicle and you managed to catch her in flight.
