the mp45c is the only one that fits my hand like a glove, its a bit bigger 7in long 5in high but im 6'4 so its not really that big for me easy for me to conceal

on saturday i found a vendor at the VF Gun Show who had a 45C. i couldn't believe it, one in the entire show! lol. i got to handle it for a few minutes and the guy behind the table even let me slide it into my waistband to get a rough idea of how concealable it would be. i love it! it points very well for me. i don't know which of the interchangeable back straps was on the gun at the time, but whichever one it was felt perfect. i think it's the most comfortable gun i've held yet.

one thing that sucks is the mag capacity, only 8+1. no big deal i guess, it's comparable to any 1911, but when the glock 30SF is 10+1 and can take 21SF 13rd mags as well, the M&P45C looks like it lacks a little. i can probably live with that though. also, the trigger will need work if i decide to go with the M&P45C. it's heavy and really gritty... not a big fan of that. supposedly (or so the interwebz tells me) trigger jobs on the M&P series guns are pretty easy.

if your carrying a 45 with self defense ammo i think 8+1 is enough, make the 1st one count and you wont need the other 8

True statement. Thats what I carry in a full size 45 with paddle holster everyday.

Before you invest 800-900 into a HK45c, try to shoot one first. Some ranges in the area have them as rentals. I own an HK45 and have shoot both the HK45 and an HK45c. The C's trigger and feel is different from the full size 45. I found the 45 much more accurate and the trigger smoother.

The few times i shot the M&P a few times and found the trigger very choppy. At the point where the trigger begins the firing pin, the trigger gets stiff almost to the point where it changes your shot.

All in all, try shoting them first before you buy. You mind one more suitable.

i was talking about the M&P45C, not the HK45C... i was just abbreviating it as 45C for some reason. i was looking at a few HKs, but from the few i've handled and shot, they seem very overpriced for being somewhat average guns. great weapons i'm sure, but not worth the money IMO. if i'm going to pay $800-900 for any automatic i'm going to skip the BS and go with a Sig. i've absolutely loved every one i've seen/handled/shot.

the M&P Compact series guns have caught my eye and i've been considering going with one of them eventually for CC, but i'll have to find somewhere that rents something other than the M&P9 and 9C. i want to try the 40 and the 45. the 9 versions seem to be the only ones around and i have absolutely zero interest in a 9mm weapon. they put holes in things just like any other caliber, but 9mm just isn't for me.

as for the 8+1 M&P45C vs. the 10+1 or optional 13+1 of the glock 30, i completely understand that 9 230 grain Gold Dots will still fcuk someone's day up, but an extra 2-5 rounds could be the game changer. i could say the same thing until i was packing a full sized glock with a 33rd mag, but still... 2-5 extra rounds in a CC weapon is something of a big deal. just something for me to consider before making a choice, that's all.

I have both Sig 229 and HK45 and USP Compacts. The HKs and Sig are both equal in my eyes. They have great triggers out of the box and have fantastic durability. I have a few Glocks and the triggers and grip dont fit my hand well. The trigger seems a bit twitchy.

Have you considered the Taurus 1911's? They have the 8 + 1 issue but they have a great price and life time warranty. Plus, i think the 1911 format is the best way to shoot a 45 acp round. One of those with a 4 inch barrel is good for concealment lock and load carry. And my experience with them has been really positive.

SPAS-12 Marine Edition, from SPAS collectors ive talked to they only made a few (as in around 100) of these they are the rarest 12s you can get. They can fetch from $3,000-$5,000, I have been looking for a SPAS and holding out and luckily I came across this one.

I have been experiencing shortages for about 9 months now. Not only is ammo hard to get the prices nearly doubled in the past year.

I should have a PA address soon....searching for my first handgun. Can anybody recommend a few to start researching? Something not overly expensive, but that packs a punch..something good for a first timer.
