Bike Service

My roommate just got his first bike and well it needs work. First thing is it needs a throttle cable because it sticks and were going to do that first, and were going to replace the fuel filter and many of the old and tired lines and hoses.

But he traded his car for a 96 Ninja ZX6E. Similar to the ZX6R. Anyhow she's idling like crap, and keeps stalling and it bogs and stutters. We didn't remove the carbs, but we cleaned the top sides. We also replaced the spark plugs. I have had carbed bikes, but never needed to do work on them.

Its deff a idle / jet / carb issue. How much do does carb cleaning, and match adjustment run? And who can do it near NE Philly other then the dealer. I am sure there are good private cycle shops out there.

Please let me know, so I can get him on this damn bike and teach im the basics. Or if your a bike expert and can help us out, he has money and I have beers.

i had a bad idle (stall out) issue on my old kan-a-tuna .. ended up being a bad o-ring in the petcock leaking fuel .. got diagnosed by noticing i had more oil in the bike then i started with and then a o2 analyzer placed in the oil fill tube

It isn't just 1 cable for the throttle. There are 2, an open and a close to keep tension on the TB and the handle. Its very easy to replace. Maybe a little more then an hour. I did it in my 250 Ninja laster year. Also they sell cable lube you can spray in them for maintance also. It typically comes with a needle to put in the ends.

Carbs I never delt with. I was safe on that part. My new bike 01 GSXR is fuel injected but need spark plugs.

We are pulling the carbs friday, he got a master rebuild kit for the carbs and is having them done at cycle center. He also ordered the throttle cable as well.
