OK now that thats out of the way, whats up? welcome to the forum...I'm the guy
that Troll was talking about, I've been throwing around the idea of boosting my IS
for quite some time now, i just can't gather the funds right at the moment nor can
I find any reliable information about different set-ups, maybe you could clue me in
on some things that are going on over there with IS300's? I know they're the altezza over
there and they're completely different, but I have heard of some good things
going on with actual IS300's over there.
Also, I have a carbon fiber rear lip from Seibon for an Altezza if ur interested (as
you know, it's too short to fit onto my rear bumper since the car is longer)

Look forward to talking to u and seeing you at the meets when you get back!

ps here's a pic of mine

both pics courtesy of Bryan Troll
i cant see you pic casue the gov comp blocks it.

have you gone on IS300.net b4? there are tons of boosted IS's on there. There is a shop in MD called TurboEast that has done alot of members IS300 turbo conversions. Also a company called SRT down there does good work as well.
one area of concern is the transmission in the IS. is your car 5spd? the stock IS tranny can only hold about 300-380ps before it will prob break.
browse IS300.net and see what you can find. I know the GTE block and tranny will fit in the US IS300 with liitle or no problems. If possible you can get the 6spd GETRAG tranny as well. Im not very well versed in the US IS300 engine dynamics, as my Altezza has a completely different engine and tranny.
how much for the CF lip btw? sounds tight!

the military pays to ship the actual car, so its free.
what i have to pay for is getting the car US legal ie the front and rear windows need to be changed to US IS300 ones. I need to put in a MPH gauge cluster, front and rear crash bars, and the headlights need to change from the glass ones which mine are, to the plastic ones(IS300) other than that thats it!
the hardest part is getting the paperwork and finding a registered importer/converter to do the work. I needed to get approval from DOT and EPA saying the car will be US legal after it gets here.

Yeah I've been on IS300.net for longer than I've been on here....
That's where I've heard completely mixed reviews. Nearly EVERYONE that I've
read about on there has had major problems with the gte swap, but apparently
if it's a 98+ gte there are less problems? maybe you should bring that supra
back and sell it to ME for ridiculously cheap Anyway, I've known about TurboEast
and SRT for a while, their kits are just so damn expensive...If I could get a
gte imported from japan for fairly cheap, I believe the swap with getrag would
be cheaper than turboing my stock engine. Anyway, thanks for the info you
gave, and if you don't mind me asking, how much are cars like urs over there? Better yet, can you just give a short run-down of going prices for some
awesome cars over there? Skylines (r32-r34), altezzas, and anything else good?

Oh and the lip, name me a price, I'm willing to listen to anything reasonable.

I am so jealous... I might have to enlist after La Salle to knock out the college debts! I cant believe how cheap cars are over there. I am actually heading to Japan for 2 weeks in May - I'll be in Kobe, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Tokyo. I want to pick up some parts for my FC3S... At least a set of S5 taillights - Maybe some RE mirrors or a headlight swap if I can ever find it.

Your car is gorgeous, and you friend's cars are pretty sick as well. I dig the Teggy.

Welcome aboard - thanks for joining us!

Very nice car!! I think everyone is a little jealous. Please take many more pictures of Skylines, RX-7s, Silvias, Supras, on the Wangan, and anyother place you can think of. I really want to come over for a visit now.

Again, welcome.

Looks pretty cool, I have heard of the Altezza before but can't say I have ever seen what one looks like. Looks pretty sweet!

And if your gonna have the only registered RHD Altezza in the states that makes it even cooler. Is it a little easier to import the car and get it registered because you in the service or do you have to go through the same process everyone else does?
