you do know this stuff is a lot easier to work with considering it only requires an xacto blade and something to apply heat

Wow... so much maturity... iirc, upperguy mentioned this was the same material used on the interior by bmw? While I'm not saying, "wrap your hood" with the stuff... I see no issues wrapping interior bits for accent pieces.

Its really damned if you damned if you don't in this place... you get called a ricer for swapping out interior components with actual carbon fiber parts IF they're available (because its negliable weight savings) and you get called a ricer for wrapping it in a high quality vinyl product that is cheaper than the part would be if it was available.

Granted, I won't be wrapping any part of my car with this stuff. I picked it up to wrap my Eee, as you can see a couple pages back. I sure as hell am not wasting my time and money building a carbon fiber case and then transfering the hardware over.

I picked up some extra to dick around with too. Its a fun material to work with.

You know what guys, I wrote up a whole big thing but deleted it because it's not worth my time. If you don't like it what is the draw for you to come in and **** on it? want to see what it's really like? I'll give you a sample or bring some to the 309 meet tomorrow night. I don't even know why I waste my time though, Chances are you will back out last second after I cancel plans to meet up with you.

Scape, thanks again for backing the product up, let me know if you need any more.

Check out RVinyl.com's Carbon Fiber wraps.... totally cheap, and looks amazing. I have worked first hand with some of the wraps and when done right, you cant even tell a roof/hood/trunk is wrapped. It looks like real CF. Plus its reallllllly cheap for a huge roll of it.

Username, I can ship you out a sample and you can see this 3m stuff. I've seen almost all the carbon look wraps on the market and in my opinion none of them really come close to this stuff.

Maxima, I don't know if the material is actually listed on 3M's site to be honest, I've never really looked.

So a friend who went in on a bunch of the material with me initially did his suby and then one of his friend's Miata. Here is the aftermath:

About midway through the day his friend showed up in his 2 hour old miata, The rear piece was rhinolined with some crap. They sanded what hadn't chipped off and applied the wrap there:

some general pics of the vinyl.
