This "fad" has already lasted very long. So long in fact that if it lasts the same amount again it will exceed my expected lifetime. So I'll be happy.

I still wouldn't call them completely socially accepted. It truly depends on the total body coverage you have. Christ people stair at me, and I don't think I'm all that covered.
