Help me out again

I originally was going to buy the Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, but some other lenses have caught my eye.

I do enjoy the fish eye effect, so I was looking at the Canon 15mm and the 14mm. The 14mm is roughly $1,500 more than the 15mm. Is that price justified?

Someone also suggested that I buy the cheap 15mm and the 28-300mm L lens. Is the latter lens overkill?

One more thing. I want to start using strobists. Does anyone here use them for their car shoots?

Thanks for any input!

what camera do you have again?
the canon 10-22mm could be a much cheaper alternative to the 14mm or 15mm fish eye if you have a cropped body camera.

spending $1500 on a prime/fish eye lens is a lot of money for one special effect lens.
But then again if you can afford to get the 15mm and a 28-300L then it doesn't seem like you are worried about costs.
15mm = $700 new 28-300L = $2600 New.
14mm = $2100 new
The difference between the 15mm and the 14mm is tha tthe 14mm is the L glass. L glass is the professional series for canon.

yes alot of if not all of the photographers onhere have used flashes for their automotive photography.

depends what youre trying to shoot and how you like to shoot them since those lenses you mentioned are pretty different. if you like the telephoto you can't go wrong getting the 70-200 since its an awesome lens. i would probably recommend against the 28-300 cuz i'm pretty sure when u get a lens with that great of a zoom range your photos won't be as sharp plus f5.6 isnt fast at all. the 14mm is more of a really wide angle lens and not a fisheye like the 15mm so you wont get the same effect. as grimm said the 14mm is an L lens so the quality of the pics and build are much better. if you want to go strobist try picking up a set of cybercyncs and some cheap flashes like the vivitars and just go out and play around with them to get a better understanding of how to use them

If you're not using a full frame camera, don't bother with the 15mm or 14mm. They're best used on a full frame. Tokina makes an 11-16mm f/2.8 that's proved to be sharper than Canon's 10-22. The tokina's a lot cheaper too, that's if you have a digital crop sensor.

I have a Canon 50D.

I've decided to buy the Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 and the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L.

As for the strobe setup... I don't know yet haha. I definitely want to do the wireless remote route, though.

Now I just need to find a good shoot location in my area. The Riversharks parking lot in Camden offers some nice scenery... hmm.

I use flashes for most of my shots, and I use Vivitar 285HVs with Pocket Wizard Transceiver Plus IIs. The vivitars ran me about $100 each, pocket wizards are about $160 each brand new now. They stopped making the vivitars, but you might be able to find some online.
