Mountain biking in the Northeast.

Anyone from northeast philly ride through pennypack park? I mostly ride the paved trail and have gone through all of it from Lorimer park to the Deleware River. I'm starting to explore the trails now which aren't too extreme but they're a nice start to mountain biking.

My bike...

anyone else ride around here?

does your seat post hit your seatstay when you hit bumps??

i've never personally mtn biked in philly, but you should head up to ralph stover state park. its a short 4 mile loop but it's intense. some drops too if you think your up to it

Thanks but that's about an hour away from me. I want to gain some experience a little closer to home before I head out for something like that. Maybe if i went with others that know the park well I'd feel a little more confident. If you want to ride sometime that'd be sweet.

There's a good 5" before it would bottom out in the back and i could still raise it slightly and ride comfortably. I'll take some better pics with a real camera once we stop getting hammered by rain.

Pics of what you guys ride?

I do Mountain bike actually, I have an alluminum frame mongoose, its a cheap one but i bought the frame used and rebuilt it all myself
I've been all over penny park, including some dagerous areas but I'm not a pro I'm just crazy...
Edit: Here's a quick picture of it, pretty much stock, bald rear tire and a random wiggle on the rear wheel, but its fun...

EDIT: yeah the seat post hits the damper, another thing i have to fix....

This is my bike. Haro Escape frame, the rest is aftermarket.

If everything were brand new it would be worth bout $2000 i'd say

where in center city do you ride? I got the full suspension because i'd rather ride smoother and comfortable then faster. speed is nice but i'm not competing with it.

true, I thik that just front suspension is enought for me, plus the frame for a hardtail is usually lighter
the rear suspension seem to suck up a lot of the thrust when you'r trying to go fast

but then again i bought this fame real cheap and pieced it together myself so i can't complain much about it

anywhere between the stadium to girard, 2nd street old city to 40th street in university city, and around the art museum.
