my boosted z06 @ NJMP

took the vette out on Friday for an open track event with PDA. Great time as usual.

I'm starting to get more comfortable in the car, pushing harder and harder each time out. Without a doubt this was the hardest I've pushed it to date.
Most of the time i was around 145-147 on the long straight but by the end of the day I hit 149 once.

I did 148 miles on track and went thru a tank and a half of 93, thats about 5.5mpg .
I didn't have to do any 'cool down' laps or hold back at all. I was able to drive as hard as I felt comfortable all day.
Coolant and oil temps were all in check, the new radiator and oil cooler are doing their jobs well.
I think this heat monster is under control. Next on the list to do is an accusump.

beginning of the day with my boy Dan riding shot gun. First time he's been in the car on track so I was taking it easy in some spots.
He was thinking about getting a lotus, but I think this ride convinced him to get a vette instead.

my camera died after this one and unfortunatley that was when I really started to open her up.

thanks for the complements.
if you like the vids please rate them on youtube so it gets more exposure.

I didn't need to downshift much, only a few times to try it out. there was really only 1 place I felt where 3rd could be needed, that left hander after the bridge that leads into the long straight. When I was in traffic and want to be sure I got around it I would DS there, otherwise I was more focusing on the line and being smoooooth with my inputs.

you gotta watch it with head phones to really hear the engine sing.

Definitely, that's what I figured.. the Z's are geared nicely for the road course.. the track definitely looks smooth and flows well.

1. Unhook your thumbs.
2. Don't fool yourself into thinking that your heat issues are resolved...it was cool that day, could be a false positive..if you know what I mean.

I really hope I can get out there when you are one of these days...you are definitely looking much improved from even earlier this year!

-nope, thats just my drag racing jacket
-I know what your saying about the temps, but compared to where it was last year at this time I'm about 60* cooler in both oil & coolant. I'm also pushing the car harder now.

I'm surprised you weren't out there too. I thought you were doing more track events this year, isn't that why you cut back on the cones. ygpm

thanks,
on the 149mph lap my RPM was 6530 max, rev limiter is set for 6800 & 4th is 1:1 ratio, so I had a little left in it still.

I was talking to that guy in the pits. he was IMO the fastest street car there that day. They're from the vette doctors of NY. that car was totally built for road racing and set on kill, lol.

fully forged motor, heads, cam, full suspension, 345 hoosier R6's, stoptech brakes, race gas... says he's making north of 650rwhp.

yo man. i gotta get a camera so i can get cool videos like urs. i would have had a cool video of my spin out of the last turn haha. i had a hell of a day that day with my brake situation. my brother took a quick vid when he was there. u can hear what ur car sounds like from the outside. for anyone that doesn't know, im car 98 at the end of the video. always in boost is the nasty sounding silver vette a little earlier in the video.

luckily a friend of mine owns a shop about 30 min away, so i gave him a call and he orderd a caliper. so i was driving there while my caliper was getting delivered. i work quick cause i work on cars for a living haha. everything was good after that tho. i only got to put about a solid 20 min on it tho but thats plenty to see if the caliper is haningin up or not.

and ill check into that one in october. I have a double header on July 17-18 with the SCMC (shelby cobra mustang club). that should be a fun one.
