Victory - Im going out of my Effing mind

So a couple weeks ago my slave cylinder took a dump. I ordered a new one and it came in.

The slave cylinder is attached to a small hard line, then to a soft line that connects to another hard line that runs along the firewall.

Well heres the fun...

I went to get the hard line off the slave cylinder and it broke. I pulled the cylinder off and proceded to try to get the end of the hard line to unscrew from the soft line.

The ****ing thing will not budge an inch. It feels like im turning it the wrong way but Im not. I have been soaking the thing in a cup of PB blaster and I have tried every wrench I can find.

From flared to standard. to a GIANT wrench because it is stripped now.

The next thing I can do is pull the softline off the hardline on the firewall

I put a flared wrench on there and its begining to weaking just like the rest.

I really dont know what else to do. if this line breaks ill have to take a TON of stuff out to remove the line.

does anyone know of any tricks for removing practicly welded bolts without stripping them?

then your flare wrenches are too loose. They shouldn't slip, they shouldn't even leave marks on the nut. I know doing my powersteering was the same **** you're dealing with. I ended up giving up on that connection and undoing another one.

Did you try the interlocking wrenches trick with the flare wrench, or was it rounding off?

If you're sure the clutch line is empty, heat it with a torch, then cool it quickly. Since you're in there, you may as well swap to a stainless soft line, it won't be the next thing to blow.

edit: are you whatthedilly on 3si?

yeah, never seen a flare nut wrench slip. often seen people first try to use a normal open ended wrench and round it off beyond recovery though...
which did you use first?

What car was this on? On a project DSM I had, the line going from the passenger side engine mount to the slave cylinder would not budge at all (was using proper flare wrench). I ended up breaking it and had to order a new line from JNZ. Only advice I can give you is, if it does break, replace it with a braided line as it will be much easier to route than the stock hard metal lines. Good luck man, working on iffy fasteners always sucks

Hello everyone,

This is on the VR4.... The first nut i broke was with a standard gear wrench brand 10MM... I have soaked that in pb blaster and even with gloves, and a HUGE wrench it still wont budge.

The next point is with a pep boys brand flair wrench... If anyone wants to come over and give me a hand I would really appreciate it. I'm limited on what 10MM tools I have.. I bet most of you have a trick up your sleeve.

and yes my 3si name is whaathedilly.

I was just back there a few weeks back working on something else, and it doesn't look like you have any room for what I suggested, besides the heat.

I have the flare wrench, but beyond that, I don't have anything special. Like I said, I gave up on the AWS lines, haha.

ah, ok, I saw the thread over there right after I saw this one.

Gah I am buying another firewall hard line just in case...

I wish some one had a braided line that went from the slave to the master.. I HATE hard lines.

Can't you just order a stainless steel line to replace the entire thing? If not, a good pair of vice grip pliers will do the trick.

Vice grips arent doing anything.

You can make a stainless line if need be. I was just back there again today (checking shaft play on the rear turbo is a BITCH) and it looks like you could easily run a SS line back there, and clip it in with some sort of mounts, or cut the stock line off the factory mounts, and clip the SS line on.

Victory is mine. I have the new slave cylinder installed and the new hard line. I reused the soft line just because I didnt want to break the line on the firewall or even take the chance. If that line fails later on then Ill find the firewall line. It looks like a lot more has to come out to replace that one too. Possibly the rear turbo...

I picked up a pair if LockTite's. After about three tries the thing finally snapped and I was able to unscrew it with my fingers.

The PITA...

This thing survived the following

10 MM gear wrench

10 MM craftsman flair nut wrench

after it rounded, I used my dremel to flatten two sides.

Then I took a pair of crafts man Vice grips to it..

Then I let it soak in a container of PB blaster

Then I finally went out and got a pair if lock tights. these automaticly tighten and they are the best adjustable wrench I have ever used

It finally gave up....
